Unless the officials had replay angles that television did not, that offside call overturning the goal was a joke. All sports, all replays nee a timer. If it isn't immediately obvious (in 45 seconds?) that a call was wrong, then move on.
I will not be out cheered in my own building.

Bang on, especially on a part of the play that didn't really effect the goal being scored. Replay needs to end across all the sports.

Agreed (and it benefited my team). See my post in the BU thread. It's just getting ridiculous... (but I'm glad we won the game)

BU is my 2nd favorite HEA team. I also like the Sioux. Yesterday's result was one of those things that is simply wrong, also why I love watching sports. Today we shall see if the hockey gods were paying attention.

Ditto. A timer is definitely needed in hockey..and all sports for that matter. To me it looked like the goal should have stood up. If it was that close, give the win to NoDak. Congrats to the Sioux on a great game...and season.

              This.

I actually think they got the "call" right, it was offside. But it had no impact on the goal. They gained no "unfair" advantage by the play being offside, what, 6 inches? What impacted the goal was Curry completely forgetting to play a 360 degree game and letting Brown sneak in unnoticed to put the puck in. If it truly gave the Sioux an unfair advantage, all the BU players would have been screaming and skating to the officials. They all did what players normally do when a good goal is scored against them in an OT, they droop and skate slowly away. They all thought it was a goal. Not like when someone plows into the netminder or something egregious.

I hate replay. This isn't life or death. Its a friggin' game. Replay kills momentum. It kills the excitement of what is the most exciting of all sports, playoff hockey. Get rid of it today and the game will be better for it.

And by the way, I have no dog in the fight, so who won or lost that game did not matter at all to me, just watching it because it was a college hockey playoff game.

Congrats on a good season and a dominating performance last night everywhere except the scoreboard. Every team has had that experience of running into a hot goalie and having them steal a game, which is what happened last night. As a long time BU fan, it has been a LONG time since I have seen BU look that inept in their own zone.

On the offsides, I think it was pretty clear once they got the picture frozen at the right juncture, that it was offsides. I have railed against reviewing for anything that isn't directly related to the puck being in the net (clock, kicking, etc.) - for all the reasons others have stated. It really had no bearing on how the goal was scored. Very tough break for you guys.

One play that will be forgotten was the play about 30 seconds before the GWG when the puck snuck in behind Johnson. I'm pretty confident that the puck was across the goal line before the whistle, but the ref intended to blow it by then. Calling THAT a goal would have taken some serious guts, and I think the ref would have needed a police escort.

Nice run, again, boys. As usual, if the Badgers don't make it, I pull for the Fighting Sioux. (Yea, I know, blah, blah, hawks). In the past 6 days I'm 0-3 in OT in sports I watched.....blame me.

My neighbor, and good friend, is from Appleton. We have a deal. He cheers for UND hockey and I cheer for Wisconsin basketball.

That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

If you have access to the Vancouver/Minnesota game you can watch Brock Boeser playing his first pro game. It's on right now.

Getting the call right should always be the ultimate goal. It's ridiculous to say replay be ****ed out of some ridiculous ideal that human error should be part of the game.

Now THAT I agree with. If you ARE going to review the play, take the time to get it right or you are just compounding the error!

Says you! The NFL rule is along the lines of the referee having 60 seconds to watch the instant replay of the play and decide if the original call was correct. The referee must see "incontrovertible visual evidence" for a call. My thinking is move on if "incontrovertible visual evidence" can't be seen in a reasonable amount of time.
