Matt Lorito was outstanding in tonight's AHL All Star game. Game winning goal in shootout. Just as good was his pass to Yalie Kenny Agostino which Agostino converted for the goal. Brown Hockey Facebook page has matt's winning goal - https://***********/BrownMensHockey

            From Divver's column in today's Prov J -

Across town, it's no secret why Brown is 3-11 in the ECAC and 4-16-1 overall.

"Special teams have been a major struggle,'' said coach Brendan Whittet. Goaltending, too. Of the 60 Division I teams, the Bears' penalty kill is last, while the power play is 57th. Freshman starting netminder Gavin Nieto's save percentage (.875) is the worst in the nation.

            Those stats are incredible.

I am indeed incredulous at our continual failures in those areas. It defies reason, at this point. This has been going on for YEARS.

                More concerning than Divver article is the Bobcats Hockey blog;

"They are just very limited on talent and it has showed. Only one of their four wins this season is against a team over .500 and that was against Army. In Whittet's eight seasons with the Bears they have only one winning season and zero NCAA tournament berths. While that would get most coaches fired, Whittet is likely safe due to the fact that Brown doesn't put a huge emphais on their hockey program."

When does Brown take notice and address the above statement. Certainly this season will not help further recruitment and improve talent pool. The majority of your top quality forwards will graduate next year, I don't see a huge pipeline of improved talent. 6 shots on goal tonight through 2? Guess tonight's line combination of the minute did not work, I am sure they will be changed by the end of the game.

Divver reported that Marchin broke his hand and may miss the rest of the season. Gottlieb also has an upper body injury and may miss time.

                    Just what we needed!

I was at the Princeton game. Frustrating - off to a 3-0 lead and then squandered. There is some talent on this team but for some reason can't put it together. team leadership?

Nieto is one positive note from this season and hopefully he stays for his remaining 3 years. Sitting behind the goal and watching him - he made some great saves. Princeton had a lot of opportunities with loose pucks in front of the net because Brown D couldn't clear.

Announced attendance was 844. I think it was closer to 400, counting the Brown band and the Princeton fans. It seems like Brendan and the hockey program have been cast aside by the administration. Shameful.

Anyone headed to Colgate/Cornell? I was hoping for a t least one win. But Divver is reporting that Schoo, Gottlieb and Wynne are out. Rossi back in as 6th D?

I am looking forward to seeing Colgate's new rink. But won't miss Starr.

                          Yikes.

Someday, I will make the trek to central New York. I've always wanted to see a game at Lynah, and now that Colgate has a beautiful new arena I have added incentive.

Mike - Not sure if you saw this, but the games have each been pushed back a day.

This is good news for us, as Divver followed this tweet with another saying the team left Providence at 9 a.m. and have only made it to the Berkshires so far. A night of rest will help immensely after such a brutal drive!

They will probably hit Hamilton after 11 PM. A lot of the roads here in Albany are plowed, but not totally clear since it's still snowing.

I'm stopping by to thank you loyal fans who are hanging in here for the team. You're more resilient than I!

The current state of Brown hockey is shameful, but you all know that. I didn't renew my season tickets this year and only went to one game; that was enough. It hurts to see these talented players struggling. I'm not sure what's wrong (I know we all have theories) but we all need to accept that the glory days of Brown hockey are far, far behind us, unless someone (hello? athletic director?) can make a case for a competitively funded and better coached program. I'm happy to hear arguments to the contrary! Nothing would make me happier than a strong Brown hockey team.
