We'll see whether that remains true or not after next weekend.
Great couple game of games between the Domers and DU. Very entertaining.
Jim Montgomery called Petersen's performance on the ROOT post game show the greatest back-to-back nights by a goalie he'd ever seen in college hockey. I've only seen one instance, myself, personally, that rivals it.
The boys deserved a better result both nights, but if they can maintain that sort of possessional dominance in NCHC play, they'll win a lot of games. It seems as though our most-skilled player may have cashed it in already, though, it seems as if Heinan is looking forward to finishing the year in Providence.
The Good News:
Dylan Gambrell 5-10-15 in 18 games
Will Butcher 3-11-14 (17games) 2-6-8 Last year
The Bad News:
Trevor Moore 3-10-13 Last Year 8-10-18 Moore was ill for about 2 weeks and missed one game. His play was not up to par for at least 1 game (maybe 3) when he WAS ILL.
Danton Heinen 5-6-11 Last year 8-14-22 That's -11 compared to his freshman year. Sophomore slump? Extra defensive attention from opponents? Based on last year, I did think this would be his last year at DU. Neutral or opponents announcers have raved about his talent, ability, skill, but not so much Friday night. Hmmmm. Seems a little early to be thinking of springtime in New England. Not living up to his freshman campaign could cost him $$$$$.
Pios will have to score more than 2 goals to get a win against the Mavs, that's for sure.
There are 11 reserved seats for Friday night's game remaining as I write this and 39 for Saturday night. A good 100 or so for both nights available on Stubhub/other secondary markets as well.
They won't announce sell-outs of 7,898 for either game, though, I don't think. School is not in session again until 1-11 and the student section probably won't be full either night. That's 830 butts in seats each night, right there.
Edit: As of the noon hour on Thursday the 7th, exactly 5 tickets remain at the box office for these 2 games, TOTAL. 3 on Friday and 2 on Saturday and just under 100 on the secondary market for Friday night can be found and about 150 for Saturday night.
One would be another 20 game winning season One would be a NCHC Tournament Championship--at least an at large spot in the NCAA Regionals Big One would be a trip to the Frozen Four Giant One would be a NCAA Championship
One more --more DU alums, students, and fans to show more interest, participate, put some spice back into "All Things DU"
