    Vizoroo,

Did you see the comments on the RPI PtC thread that there are rumors form multiple sources that Troy York is leaving RPI and that there are two games. The latter is not a rumor.

First, watch Monty's post game video after Saturday's game on LetsGoDU
      Second, Read Magness Mayhem
      Then take a gander at:http://thesportsdaily.com/goonsworld...g-with-denver/

Not the type of news you like to read. But it made me wonder about how much the Pios lost with 9 seniors only one of whom, Will Butcher, was a real star, an elite player. The other 8 ( plus Butcher) brought the strength of character, commitment, and leadership that seems to be lacking today.

To be fair, this team has only 4 seniors to carry the message. The Captain, Tariq Hammond, missed the first part of the season and is still working to regain form. Adam Plant, Alternate Captain, had to take on the top D role vacated by Butcher, not easy skates to fill. Now Plant is still working through injury aftereffects. Rudy Junda only had 12 career games prior to this year. And Tanner Jaillet is manning the goal, but without last year's shutdown defense. The time has come for team leaders to step it up. Team first, commitment, hard to play against, Denver Hockey the right way.

On a lighter note, 7 of the 9 graduating seniors are playing professional hockey:
      • Butcher in the NHL
      • Ritt in France(finished 10th nationally in faceoff wins)
      • VanVoorhiis in Norway (Fearless=my personal fave)
      • Marcinew in ECHL (finished 3rd nationally in faceoffs won)
      • Romig in ECHL for Colorado Eagles (Sam Brittain is there too)
      • Evan Janssen in ECHL (Monty trusted to play in any situation)
      • Cowley in ECHL (had better numbers than Jaillet last year, but in far fewer games)

Nice write-up! After watching DU march through the Frozen Four Championship last year, I knew you had many key cogs returning thus, should be very good. As good as Butcher was (is now with NJ) I believed you guys had the talent to overcome that. It is my belief that Janssen is the one you guys missed the most, hear and soul type that played the right way and along with the right decisions...he knew where to be with/out the puck. You guys will be fine as this is just a bump in the long hockey season road and come March/April you guys will be right there. Good Luck!

It's official--Troy Terry selected for the Olympic team!

Will Borgen (St. Cloud), Ryan Donato (Harvard), and Jordan Greenway (BU) are the other current collegians selected. Most of the other players do have a NCAA background.

Sad news--DU great Jim Wiste died January 2, 2018. Jim was Captain of the 1968 National Championship team and an All American in 1967 and 1968. From 1976 until 2016 he was the proprietor of the Campus Lounge.the iconic watering hole for DU hockey players, fans, and NHL players. Jim's brother, Wayne, came to DU a year earlier. The two played together for the Pioneers through 1967 and both graduated from DU--Wayne, BS 1967 and Jim BSBA 1968.

Jim, Cliff Koroll, and Keith Magnuson were Pioneers on the ice for DU and as part of the initial class of collegiate skaters to play in the NHL. All 3 played for the Chicago Blackhawks.

One of my favorite people in the world, Jim Wiste, has joined my Dad in Heaven. You'd be hard pressed to find a sweeter, funnier and more successful person rolled into one. Jimmy took great care of me. Love you! #campuslounge @du_hockey @nhlblackhawks
When Keith tragically died in an auto accident, Kevin was in Law School at DU. Jim was the one who had to tell him of his father's death and give him support during this difficult time.
