UVM has a "5 star" recruit coming in next year based on the attached College Hockey 247 website.

At #18, Connor Brickley, currently playing Des Moines of the USHL. Not sure even Torrey Mitchell was a 5 star and he did pretty well. Hopefully this kid can meet up with the expectations he will face next season. Looking forward to watching...

I just want to give my support to UVM. I hope you finish this season strong! I am still a UVM fan. I really enjoyed all of you guys the past four years when Corey played. You are great fans!

As I have said many times recently, and some are tired of reading I suppose, the next couple of recruiting classes look excellent - possibly the best ever outside of the accidental Perrin, St. Louis, Thomas class

of course, you NEVER know how each prospect develops (case in point is Marshall who can fly but has not show a lot of ability to handle and shoot the puck)

but, the talent looks pretty solid

I would be more optimistic about the final six RS games if they had Stacey going and McCarthy were skating tonight

Funny that I have wanted to see Burrows skate at forward but I was not hoping it would be forced by a lack of bodies to dress

I have kind of resigned myself to no playoffs this year but if this team can somehow pull itself up off the mat what a great thing that would be

However, they have HUNGRY and far more powerful UNH and BU to deal with, so I would say the odds are not great. UNH eats UVM for lunch, and with all the injuries and other distractions I would argue that this might be the least well prepared UVM team we have seen play UVM yet in the HE era

Maybe the only good news is that the Milo situation took the focus off the 3rd period Merrimack disasters

I do believe that grantfan was Milo's father. I have heard (not read) from several sources that Milo senior is a real problem. and if you go back and read his posts it's not difficult to become convinced of this. No true fan with those feelings would likely even bother to follow the program and log into the blog if they felt that way unless they had an axe to gring or had nothing else to do from their room in the mental institution

          he needs a shrink

Onward and upward now that the problem is behind the program

            Some strange lines.

I do not get NESN - Is anyone streaming it?

Deserved a W tonight. Well fought game coming back several times, really a lot of effort on the forecheck creating opportunities, just didn't get the bounce at the end.

Liked Burrows at forward, thought he was one of their best along with Stalberg, Rohloff, Higgins. Don't think Albertson saw the ice but Leonard was buzzing when he played...would like to see a shift or two more to him.

A win would have been nice, a tie would have been helpful. Great effort with all the drama from the week. 4 goals by 4 seniors, guess they are leading now but it is probably too late.

A fall to 9th in Hockey East and 22nd Pairwise. A win tonight would be helpful but the damage might already be done. I suppose these guys could go 5-0 and finish with a statement. Not counting on it but it would be great to see.

I am guessing McCarthy will be back in the lineup. Then they can put the 3 freshman together - Stalberg, McCarthy and Pacan. Shuffle the other lines.

Agreed that Burrows looked good at forward. He is focused and does not seem to give up easily with the puck on his stick or within reach of his stick.

Madore was run into at least 3 times last night. Have to think the other coaches know Spillane is injured and not dressed; and Vazzano has limited game experience. I am guessing this trend from the opposing teams will continue as it would be the final "nail in the coffin"...as the saying goes, if Madore were to get hurt.

These 3 clowns were escorted right out the door. Dont worry, the Vermont fans were pleasant and gracious. It was these 3 jokers who tried to cause the trouble.

One of the most pointless statements ever, uttered thousands of times a day by Sports fans. You either WIN, or you DON'T; there is no point awarded for a, "hey we deserved to win but didn't because, oh, you know, the other team beat us." UVM had a lot of shots on goal -- nearly 20 more than UNH -- but our goalie played much better, and at the end of the game, UVM didn't score as many goals as UNH, and therefore, didn't deserve to win.

Having said that, UVM played a great game, and the possible distraction caused by the Milo dismissal didn't seem to affect them. They played hard; it would have been far too easy to get down on themselves, allowing a goal :26 into the game. Tonight's game will be very interesting, especially with how chippy the end of the game was last night.

Somebody mentioned UNH players running into Madore a lot last night; I've never seen Coach Umile tell players to hurt somebody else (he's NOT Jack Parker!), nor would any of the current UNH skaters do that, from what I know of them. One example was Speelman; he's not 100%, still avoiding contact with his shoulder; there was body contact right before he slid into Madore, he was trying to avoid it, lost and edge, and in he went. I didn't even think the penalty was justified, but understandable -- have to protect the goalies. But I don't think they were running into Madore on purpose; he moved to the top of the crease a lot last night, which makes him a lot more prone to be knocked over (that surprised me, because he's shorter than average and leaves a lot of room over the top, as evidenced by the Krates goal - his first since October!).

Hoping for a clean, up and down game. For anybody not watching with a vested interest last night, it must have been a very exciting hockey game to watch. Sorry to post on your thread, but the UNH thread was dead this morning . . .

On a side note, a puck went into the UVM bench last night. Sneddon picked it up, identified a young UNH fan, and tossed the puck to him. Sneddon appeared to be waiting for the kid to say thanks; instead, the kid threw it back, much to the delight of the other fans around him (at least the kid made sure Sneddon was looking and didn't hit him). Sneddon grinned and applauded -- a classy and amusing scene that I'm sure most fans missed!

There are no points award for "deserving to win", it doesn't change the fact that a team came out and put forth an effort against one of the top teams that should have earned them a win. It's a moral point, that after a week of distraction was a welcome sight for fans who have watched this team go through the motions too many times.

From my perspective the penalties were horrible, they were even but there were penalties that should have been called that weren't, and the few that were called were questionable. Again, there wasn't a bias and were called evenly for each team, just didn't seem to make sense.

Glad to see the cats shoot and go for rebounds. All too often they fart around waiting for the perfect pass and end up losing the puck. A lot of shots were easy saves, but they generated rebounds and that allowed UVM to generate some offense. Stalberg looked good, Albertson did skate although no much, Roos looked good and had great energy. The freshman continue to be the best players on the ice. Irwin had a good game, maybe a coincidence but he also played well while Milo was out at the beginning of the season. Like to see him pick it back up. All in all a great effort. McCarthy being in the line up will be a big boost, hopefully they can keep the play up tonight.

Having just moved to Atlanta, I don't have Directv yet, so I wasn't able to watch the game on NESN last night. Just curious, did the announcers have anything new to say about the Milo dismissal?

by your first paragraph you had no idea where i was coming from when I said uvm deserved a W. By your second paragraph you understood a bit more what i meant. Uvm has played many poor games in this second half and for them to come out aggressive trying to control the puck deep in unh zone and really working their tails off after a week of turmoil to me proved they gave everything thery could into winning that game. By no means was I saying that uvm deserved a W and unh stole one from them. I'm saying they finally "brought it" in an important league game and it's too bad that effort couldn't have resulted in 2 points.

it would make sense for any team to get traffic around Madore and don't be afraid to make contact if in a position to not get a penalty. Their back-up is out, the third string essentially has never played, and Madore has logged a ton of minutes and anyone knows who has played that physicality takes a that much more out of you. By no means think unh was looking to injure the goalie, just were doing what was wise by crashing the net, which is also a sign of going for the jugular against a possible fragile team.

thanks for the side note, nesn did catch sneddon throwing it into the stands but didn't see the throwback which is funny. Keep track of that kid, could be a hard nosed defenseman someday.

Mccarthy should be back tonight, assume albertson wears the sportcoat. I'd give Burrows a longer term look at forward at this point. He looked like he was dominating play a few times with little effort and I can see a lot of positives out of him up front. He also is a good penalty killer period so it's like having 3 D out on the kill.

off subject, just played a bunch of games in the first annual VT pond hockey championships at Lake morey in Fairlee...good times, ice a little soft as it progressed due to high temp and a little sun. There was a much bigger tourney two weeks ago at winnapausakee. Hopefully one can develope on lake champlain next year.

too bad about our fan in green. not the norm for a traveling uvm fan i can assure you. 99 percent of our traveling fans are extremely respectful of other teams and its' facilities.

big night for madore, need to shut this team down. Looks to me like it's tougher for an opposing goalie at the whit than an opposing team. Actually think uvm is built to play on this sheet with the room in the corners to be able to cycle and generate offense from there. Tougher for a goalie having to learn new angles and the corners are contoured different so pucks shot around do so at different speeds and angles.
