Having just moved to Atlanta, I don't have Directv yet, so I wasn't able to watch the game on NESN last night. Just curious, did the announcers have anything new to say about the Milo dismissal?

You either WIN, or you DON'T; there is no point awarded for a, "hey we deserved to win but didn't because, oh, you know, the other team beat us." UVM had a lot of shots on goal -- nearly 20 more than UNH -- but our goalie played much better, and at the end of the game, UVM didn't score as many goals as UNH, and therefore, didn't deserve to win.
There are no points award for "deserving to win", it doesn't change the fact that a team came out and put forth an effort against one of the top teams that should have earned them a win. It's a moral point, that after a week of distraction was a welcome sight for fans who have watched this team go through the motions too many times.

From my perspective the penalties were horrible, they were even but there were penalties that should have been called that weren't, and the few that were called were questionable. Again, there wasn't a bias and were called evenly for each team, just didn't seem to make sense.

Glad to see the cats shoot and go for rebounds. All too often they fart around waiting for the perfect pass and end up losing the puck. A lot of shots were easy saves, but they generated rebounds and that allowed UVM to generate some offense. Stalberg looked good, Albertson did skate although no much, Roos looked good and had great energy. The freshman continue to be the best players on the ice. Irwin had a good game, maybe a coincidence but he also played well while Milo was out at the beginning of the season. Like to see him pick it back up. All in all a great effort. McCarthy being in the line up will be a big boost, hopefully they can keep the play up tonight.

Having said that, UVM played a great game, and the possible distraction caused by the Milo dismissal didn't seem to affect them. They played hard; it would have been far too easy to get down on themselves, allowing a goal :26 into the game. Tonight's game will be very interesting, especially with how chippy the end of the game was last night.

Somebody mentioned UNH players running into Madore a lot last night; I've never seen Coach Umile tell players to hurt somebody else (he's NOT Jack Parker!), nor would any of the current UNH skaters do that, from what I know of them. One example was Speelman; he's not 100%, still avoiding contact with his shoulder; there was body contact right before he slid into Madore, he was trying to avoid it, lost and edge, and in he went. I didn't even think the penalty was justified, but understandable -- have to protect the goalies. But I don't think they were running into Madore on purpose; he moved to the top of the crease a lot last night, which makes him a lot more prone to be knocked over (that surprised me, because he's shorter than average and leaves a lot of room over the top, as evidenced by the Krates goal - his first since October!).

Hoping for a clean, up and down game. For anybody not watching with a vested interest last night, it must have been a very exciting hockey game to watch. Sorry to post on your thread, but the UNH thread was dead this morning . . .

On a side note, a puck went into the UVM bench last night. Sneddon picked it up, identified a young UNH fan, and tossed the puck to him. Sneddon appeared to be waiting for the kid to say thanks; instead, the kid threw it back, much to the delight of the other fans around him (at least the kid made sure Sneddon was looking and didn't hit him). Sneddon grinned and applauded -- a classy and amusing scene that I'm sure most fans missed!

These 3 clowns were escorted right out the door. Dont worry, the Vermont fans were pleasant and gracious. It was these 3 jokers who tried to cause the trouble.
