Agree 100% Brandon. They never felt dangerous to me either. In fact (without seeing the stats) if you asked me what the shots on goal were during the game, i would have guessed 32-22 us....not the other way around. Our pipe and their pipe cancelled out......I felt we totally kept them out of the dangerous shooting areas, forced most stuff way wide and their shots were well seen by Hayton and from far away.

The 5 on 3 kill was great. Other than at the very end Clarkson never got set up or even controlled the puck for that matter. Both teams PP looked worse than the penalty kills looked good.

I can't believe that RPI gets out shot 45 something to 19 and wins another game in OT.

Great win at home last night, Hayton was the man as usual. If we could get our power play to even 10% we would be lights out. PP needs to be completely scrapped and started over fresh, it is just painful to watch. Was joking around at one point last night that we wished it was like football and we could decline penalties...the PP is that bad. The Saints are scary good in just about every other phase and have the potential to do some serious damage this year.

Re: St. Lawrence University Skating Saints - 2015-2016

Totally agree with everything posted so far. Friday night was a great effort defensively and we capitalized on our chances when we had them and that's the difference. Well, that and Hayton was solid as always. Nice to get the mini Appleton Arena slump against Clarkson off our backs. Now maybe we can get that place turned back into the house of horrors it was in the early to mid 2000's for Clarkson. Now it's on to Princeton and Quinnipiac this coming week. A good hard week of practice, with a focus on improving the incredibly dismal power play is what appears to be in order. We can't overlook Princeton, despite their record, they always give a great effort and if someone isn't paying attention and playing their best they can surprise some teams (ourselves included). Look at last year when they tied us at Princeton. Quinnipiac will be tough, as they always are, but we have been known to play them hard up there and hopefully they will be focused and ready to give it their very best shot against them. Keep at it boys, the tough part of the schedule is upon us now and we need to be full speed ahead! Let's Go Saints!!

Nice effort tonight for the guys. It was one we should win and we maintained our focus and got the job done. It could have been easy to overlook Princeton and focus on the Quinnipiac game tomorrow night, but as the guys know, Princeton can sneak up on you and they certainly are no slouch. Hayton made some nice saves and really seems to be focused and in a zone these last two games. We will need him to be strong tomorrow night as well. Nice win Saints!

Agreed. Princeton had their chances tonight, but Hayton stood tall for most of them. Some good finishing by our guys, but when do we start declining powerplays?

Quinnipiac has now played 4 games in 7 nights, including 65 minutes tonight. Hopefully they are a little flat tomorrow, with SLU only having played 2 games in that same stretch.

I saw someone else point this out over on the St. Lawrence Hockey Fans Facebook page. I agree, it is a blessing for the potential of some tired legs on the opposite bench. Hopefully it pans out as a benefit for us. We need to take advantage of this and use our speed, which is already a strength of ours, to it's maximum against them. Play hard and the rest should fall into place. You got this guys!

I did not get to watch or listen tonight but was pleased to see the result. I was surprised however to see how many SOG both teams had. It must have been back and forth with that many shots. Hope we don't get into that paradigm of getting out shot but winning. It worked last year I guess. It would scare me to give up that many shots to Q Pac though as I don't think the result will be the same.

You can't predict who will come out hard, who will have the jump, etc. Just hope we are at our best as I think we will need it.

Well Clarkson certainly softened them up for SLU toknight . Now lets see how much they PO'd them . I'm gonna be at Prinny toknight and hope I do not see the same debacle that I saw last season . Good luck SLU.

That was a pretty fantastic hockey game. Very exciting, and a well deserved tie for both teams.

I'll gladly take the point and run away from Hamden.

Fantastic game. Tonight was the 119th tie in our history, and our all-time record is now 1,053-909-119. That's 2,081 games - and I am fairly certain that tonight was the first time that we ever played to a 0-0 tie. My Q'Pac feed froze about 8:00 into the third, so switched to SLU Audio.

Agreed. That was as fine a college hockey game as I've seen in quite some time. The result was fitting. Neither team deserved to lose. End to end action. Great passing, lot's of hitting.......got very chippy at times. Hayton played great. Garteig played better (if that's possible.) I really thought we had the better of the scoring chances in total. I'll give Q credit. I thought we really controlled a lot of the play in the first and second....but at the start of the third Q came out strong and hard just when I was thinking they would be out of gas. The fact that both teams roll 4 lines made a difference I guess. That was an NHL caliber performance by Garteig and the save on the goal that wasn't a goal was just incredible. I was half out of my seat ready to cheer on a goal and the next thing I know he flashes his stick and pops the puck into his glove. I really thought we did a great job of hustling, limiting their chances.....our kill was excellent. Really impressed with guys like Lough, Sullivan, Laidley and McGovern who back check like crazy and just don't want to lose puck battles.
Really an enjoyable game except for watching Pecknold constantly screaming at the referee's. He was ballistic at times tonight and I am shocked he didn't receive a bench minor at some point for his behavior. Reading his comments in the SLU summary takes my dislike for him to an even higher level. But....don't want that to detract from what was a GREAT college hockey game between two skilled and excellent teams.
