Any structure that makes that happen is the way to go, and for obvious reasons the current structure guaranteeing two exempt games for traveling teams is the only way that will happen. Before the Brice, we often headed into conference play barely tested, and we often dug ourselves a hole right out of the gate.

Plus, imagine the chagrin if it would have been ASU vs SCSU for the Kendall Championship, or AIC vs RPI for the Brice.

But I have heard rumors that one or both of the tourneys could disappear. Not sure how solid the rumors are, but I did not hear any announcements this year about next year’s tourneys. At one point Wisconsin and North Dakota were on tap for next year’s Brice, but we know how fluid those commitments seem to be.
I hope they both stay for obvious reasons but wouldn't be surprised if they go.

The biggest problem if they go, IMO, is it means we are going back on the road for any decent non-conference games. The only bonus I could see is if we got some guarantee from a bigger school for playing in their barn.

And there are easier fixes to getting more revenue in the program...and it starts with getting people to the Carlson and drinking beer and wine to offset the rental cost.

In addition to what others have said, it's also better for the WCHA to have both of us play non conference games in these tourneys for PWR purposes.

    You rang?

I realize I'm really late, I'm just catching up on threads.

UAA vs. UAF (home and home?) to start every year sounds nice, and then a traveling yearly tournament (the Kendall Brice Goal Classic) between ANC and FBX could work. That way we combine forces to shore up any financial woes.

The tourney is more attractive to teams from the lower 48 the way it is currently set up because both games are exempt from the 34-game limit. Had RPI played AIC in Alaska the game would have counted to the limit.

Nice win UAA. Too bad Ege was rooked out of his goal. It sure looked good on the replays. He was tripped and swiped at the puck with his stick, as he was sliding across the crease head first. If the puck hit his hand on the way in, it was not directed or hit at by Wyatt. The freshmen are starting to look pretty good.

Wow, talk about a turnaround! The Nooks had only scored ONE goal in the last 7 periods prior to that 5 goal 2nd period outburst. Me thinks the "slump" is over.

The Nooks have now scored six goals since I cracked open this Maui Brewing Big Swell IPA. I may need to keep this can as a souvenir.

Here it is...October 5, 2001. We put up 6 in the 2nd against Air Force. We've had a few four goal periods, most recently Valentines Day 2014 in Houghton against Michigan Tech.
