I have now received several blast emails from Brown promoting tomorrow's lacrosse game against Yale. I am curious as to what other promotional things the AD is doing to increase attendance with the student body, if any. As Kane88 said awhile ago, winning will increase attendance. With brown at #5 in the National Polls that should mean a really good turnout without any additional work from the AD.

Students have had a sizable presence at every game this year - even the Bryant game, which was on a 20-degree Tuesday night. The game later today is expected to sell out. They haven't done much, as far as I can tell, in the way of promoting the lax team other than the emails you've been receiving.

Winning breeds fan interest; student and otherwise!

Here's a good look from the Brown Daily Herald at one of our frequently-discussed topics on here: attendance. While its conclusion is the same that we've collectively come to - winning puts butts in seats - it offers some stats and student insights that we haven't had here on the forum.

            http://www.browndailyherald.com/2016...for-athletics/

On a separate note, does anyone know when next year's captains and/or freshman class will be released? I was planning on making a new thread after at least one of those things happens, so we can start looking forward.

Have to imagine the freshman class will be announced soon. Since their isn't an obvious choice for captain, I could see the staff extending the decision into next fall to see who steps up over the summer as a presence in the room along with their play.

Comparing incoming goalie Nieto's statistics to successful D-1 keepers who have come out of the NAHL is certainly promising. Only red flag would be that he happened to play for one of the best teams in the league, so the quality and volume of shots he was seeing may have been low. Fire up the new thread. #bears

The most notable comparison has to be Connor Hellebuyck, whose .930 save percentage in the NAHL is just .01 higher than Nieto's. The quality of the team certainly affects these numbers, but I'm encouraged, nonetheless. If Nieto is even in the same galaxy as Hellebuyck, we're in luck!

As far as the captains go, I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick a junior, like they did with Naclerio.

Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

Turk: Thanks for asking. Yes, I was there. Taking my wife and daughters with their children was their Mother's Day treat (after brunch). For all below is a link referring to Nick's heroics. Note his playoff beard. BTW, Matt Lorito is also doing well in the playoffs - 5points including 2 goals. Toronto is a really good team.
