Well I had to try for April Fools since everyone in Columbus believes Michigan fans are suckers for a joke.
After all, your school DID hire Rich Rodriguez for your football coach and then paid millions to bail him out of his breach of contract with WV and need I go on how it all worked out?
But hey, we've been pranked pretty good too, we hired Gene Smith to be our AD!

Red certainly deserves a great deal of respect for what he's done for the game. What was his last game at Yost like? Did they play it up as his last?

Not all. There were rumors about alumni coming back in droves, but I didn't notice any. Red let the fans appreciate the seniors.

And I don't think he faced many top ten teams and I don't think his record was that great against the ones he did face.

1-2. Split with BU, lost to North Dakota in the tournament.

Apparently all nominees are automatically nominated if they are the conference top coach or make it to the frozen four.

Given the choices in the B1G, it's not as if there were many alternatives...

I think Red deserves to be somewhere on the list. But he doesn't deserve the Penrose. A decent coaching job but not without problems. He should have won the league. And I don't think he faced many top ten teams and I don't think his record was that great against the ones he did face.
