Also, in 1992, LSSU beat 4 teams that either were currently in, had formerly been in, or would eventually be in the WCHA when they knocked off Alaska Anchorage, Minnesota, Michigan State, and Wisconsin en route to the National Championship. Michigan State would accomplish the same feat in 2007 when they beat Boston University, Notre Dame, Maine, and Boston College to win the title.

If Providence wins the Frozen Four this year, it is possible that they would have beaten four teams from one conference to do so: Miami, Denver, Omaha and North Dakota.
