That's what makes sports what it is. The emotion. I love movies, the theatre, concerts, etc. But you know the outcome of all of these things. What makes sports great is the spontaneity. You just never know and that's why it is so gut-wrenching. We get so involved. I was pretty wound up this week and a little over the top. I think it was because I knew that I would never have an opportunity to see BU win IN BOSTON for the rest of my life. You wake up one day and stuff like that just hits you. I hope they win in Tampa next year, but, sorry, you can't tell me that it will be "the same." This opportunity will never come again, and that's why it hurt so much. I've settled down today. It's what sports does to us. I was like your son at that age. I used to cry when the Red Sox lost. Game 7 of the '67 World Series was devastating. But life goes on and we recover...but we don't forget. It will always hurt a little...

The NCAA held onto the championship game tickets this year for the 600 allotted to each school until after the semis. Just to do what we saw. Making sure the 2 corners facing the TV cameras were packed with the fans of the teams playing.

Hopefully Boston does not have to wait another 11 years to host a FF.

Tampa was only 2012 and they're back again in 2016.

I must say I liked Tampa a lot and I'm glad its going back there. Most of the folks I've talked to have felt the same way

I'd also expect Boston to reprise as a FF venue sooner rather than later. Established hockey city, ingrained hockey culture, plenty of amenities, etc., etc. One thing that could kill that, though, is if the Bruins become dead set against playing the final NHL weekend on the road.

For all the BU fans who were crushed by a home loss, lets not forget the PC fans who won very close to home. Surely they were very excited winning so close.

As for the fans who rooted for the other side- I was there in '98 when it was us vs. BC- and I'd say the percentages were pretty close to that.

I, for one, was very satisfied for the weekend- every game ended as I wanted it to.

Not sure, but it was well attended and it does have some nice amenities being in a warm weather climate and the Lightning do have a nice arena that I think most people enjoyed, including myself. You can catch a baseball game in between and other things. It was well run and I had no complaints at all.

Makes it easier to comply with NCAA rules around signage when they have all summer to restore the logos under the ice.

He can speak for himself, but I don’t think he’s complaining about Tampa, just noting that it’s returning there after only four years and that it’s been 11 since the last time it was in Boston, and hoping it’s not another 11 years before it returns. And I agree. I have selfish reasons (I’m local), but I think that this FF was a great success. There didn’t seem to be any trouble complying with NCAA idiosyncrasies, and folks seemed to have a good time. I’d be interested to see what posts there are after the travelers get back, particularly those folks who were concerned with traffic and the price of hotel rooms, admittedly not ideal in Boston.

Of course having two local teams helped, but there will almost always be at least one team within reasonable commuting distance.

As a local, only issue i encountered was traffic saturday night and trying to enter garden at 7:15. My god was that a disaster.

only issue i had was the upper level concessions at the jacobs arena having being half staffed. embarrassing to see the lines waiting for wieners and popcorn. good god are the jacobs cheap

There were a lot of complaints about how the 2004 Frozen Four came off in Boston, so it was not all that surprising that it took a while for the tournament to return. The overall impression of this event seems a lot better, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a quicker return this time.

Boston did very little that I saw to promote the event. Every other FF city I've been to has made it an event in and around the arena. It wasn't bad but it ranked as the least satisfying FF that I've been to, other than the games.

The Garden itself ... why do you close concessions for a sold out game? Besides that, you have a brand new arena. There's no excuse for the garbage concessions that were available. Cold hot dogs, fries cooked beyond the point of being edible, and $6 sodas.

Denver made a little effort in 2008. Signage everywhere, but for promotion? Average from what I've heard over the years. St Paul closed down the street in front of the arena the day of the game(s) and made a true fest of it. And it's a main thoroughfare to get to the arena/parking lots. I was shocked, honestly.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

I don't know, maybe promotion was the wrong word. I do know that everywhere I went in Denver was supportive of the event and I even got some good "specials" at the local restaurants. Interesting about St. Paul. I'd love to see a FF in Minnesota. I couldn't go to the last one, planning on being there in '18.
