People seem to have short memories when it comes to the Russian WJC teams.

Remember Buffalo? Russia slept walked through the preliminary round, and then rode an improbable comeback against Sweden and an amazing comeback against canada to win gold.

Or, how about last year? USA looks strong through the first round only to get bounced by Russia in the quarterfinals.

This is modus operandi for Russia in the WJC. They were the last team I wanted the USA to play tomorrow.
I'm deeply worried about the Russians.

I think they are the 4th best team in the tournament. Easily the last team I wanted to see other than Sweden from their side.

Even though alot of our guys were in American junior and some Canadian Junior leagues, they seem a little soft compared to the Canucks. Lets hope they rely on talent against the Russians, I can see them coming out and gooning it up to try and get the US off of their game again.
A shame Santini wasn't able to bring his edge (and talent) to the US side.

Russia has some explosive players, like current Soo Greyhound's forward Sergei Tolchinski who is like a Russian version of Johnny Gaudreau. They are a pretty big team but (fortunately) do not play a physical game. They are not aggressive like Canada on the forecheck and won't cause a lot of turnovers in the American end but they are masters of slowing the game down, clogging the neutral zone and then launching blistering attacks when you least expect them.
It will be a tough game but if the U.S. defense holds up, they should be able to beat them.

We are moments from puck drop. Any last minute predictions?

I think the U.S. takes this one, 3-2. Maybe OT.

Have to get out of this only down 1-0.
