Hall just goes heels over *** into the corner

Good for him to get right back up--with a few choice words

Slovakia is working really hard here; it would be a shame if they weren't rewarded with a goal.

That last couple minutes were just some great back and forth hockey. A couple big hits both ways and a couple end-to-end rushes both ways. Bourque just drilled that guy along the far boards, and the hip check on Hall was a thing of beauty.

That hit on Hall was awesome.

Slovakia is taking it to Canada in the last few minutes. They aren't invincible, despite still not giving up a goal...

But now they get another PP goal.

        5-0

Note to USA: Do not give Canada PP chances. They will score... 70% of the time.

Well, Canada finally gave up a goal.

And then Hall responded with his third goal of the game. Kid's ridiculous. 6-1.

Canada will get PP chances whether they are "given" to them by the US or not.

Canada's a machine right now. I don't see them losing on Thursday night.

I've got to agree with this. Slovakia had some brief success by playing physical. Maybe if the US can do this, they keep it close. I still don't see them winning Thursday, but that is not to say that loss kills the US shot at a medal. I'm thinking Thursday isn't the only time the US and Canada matchup in this tourney.

The US was out muscled last year. My guess is the US will come out very physical this time against Canada. Although Canada is the slight favorite, the US is very capable of an upset if they play physical and forecheck like hell.

Schroeder going to sit on the bench then?

He seems to be gradually getting his confidence back. His best defense is using his speed to harrass and forecheck in the offensive zone.

Nor Canada losing to US in what... 2004? Ok, ok... Technically Marc-Andre Fleury beat Canada to help USA win gold but still...

Seriously, though, it's hard to tell who will win.

Canada is playing VERY well right now but they've hardly faced serious competition.

The US has played good too, but not as good as Canada. They have serious issues with penalties.

Face it: The more the US spends in the box, the higher the goal differential will be... with Canada getting the better end of it.

I don't like our chances with Lee in net. Yeah, it's hard for me to say that because he looked SO DARN GOOD coming out of juniors...Frazee like... Oh.. yeah...

The US is going to have to play almost perfectly and disrupt Canada in doing so.

At least we don't have to worry about Steve "The One Man Hospitalizer" Downie.

Exactly. Physical, but don't cross the line and give them a boatload of PP's.

For the USA to beat Canada, a couple of things need to happen:

                                1) Campbell or Lee stands on his respective head in goal. Great goaltending is the major equalizer in a game where Canada enjoys a significant talent advantage. The better the US goaltending is, the better the chance to sneak out with a victory.

                                2) Canada has a tendency to play a little nervously at times in the big games with all the national pressure they face at home. They are still teenagers and mistakes can happen. If this is the case, the US can take advantage of a break or two to get an advantage and keep it. The US faces no real pressure, because only a few thousand Americans follow this tournament vs millions of Canadians who follow it.

That said, it's more likely that Canada beats the USA on the basis of a talent edge, the home ice advantage they enjoy, combined with the intense pride they take in winning this tournament - they are just very, very hard to beat.
