Their systems are probably much more useful than the current stats.

Having attended games with some I can tell you that they watch a game totally differently than I ever have. Often they are totally disonterested in the things i see and focus on things that i do not even notice much less understand.

Ralph: Really wish you would not do that. Numbers and formulae have just not been my thing for a long time. I do however know what the S&P and Dow numbers are. Glad though that you and JM respoonded with some interesting thoughts on the subject. I just always felt goals were a simple stat-you put it into the net and you get the point. Assists just come in some many different varieties that they are often hard to quantify. I have had this conversation with a few professionals who scout young hockey players and find most of them have their own rating systems looking for quality shifts on the ice and discount some of the things that many of us look at so frequently. BTW, the ones i have spoken with think we have a rather nice combination of recruits coming to Troy.

I tend to agree Doc. And for the record, we have have a 6'3 195lb freshman forward headed our way ...I expect a HECKUVA lot more excitement and positivity out if you! )

Amen to this. I remember at Youngstown/Dubuque wondering why they picked Chris Bradley, and didn't quite understand. So I told myself, never mind the plays that get crowds reeling, and instead take a look at the players and what they're doing the rest of the time, and that's one of the reasons I knew Jake Wood would be successful, because his off the puck play is terrific. It's also the reason why I thought RB would have some room for improvement. Didn't get a chance to watch any of the incoming frosh play this year, maybe next time.

The excitement and positivity from me will return-I can promise that. It is just going to take a little time. 2014 has just been deifficult for us so far. Even though i have hnot been able to bring myself to post much since February, I have a very good feeling about this group of recruits and some very interesting observations from those who know far more than I could ever learn. We will most definitely have size and speed. My only concern is how all of this will get integrated. So much will depend on the meshing together of the talent we are getting and what we already have.
