Dan Carey's best beers are the fruit based stuff. I do like his IPA and he has my respect. On the other hand, his wife is something else.

Brewers can still base beers off of stuff like Budweiser. Spotted Cow is a well made beer that is easy to drink and not very off putting. If they(brewers) make one mistake with Spotted Cow everybody would see the difference. Basically, Dan Carrey can't mask the off flavors if he made a mistake with Spotted Cow. Just like brewers of Budweiser can't make mistakes because it is probably one of the hardest beers to consistently brew.

If by "base stuff off Budweiser" you mean making a light lager, cream ale, pilsner, etc., then sure. Bud and Miller shouldn't have the chokehold on non-dark, non-pale beers.

As for Budweiser not being able to make mistakes, you're right - it's also the easiest to get the same every time. I highly doubt they use anything other than adjuncts, processed hop extract and distilled water for Bud and Bud Light (it's probably not so simple for their higher-quality brews), and they have a small army of chem techs constantly checking the mineral and chemical content at every brewery. Once they have the recipe and the ingredients sorted out, and have sanitized every last surface, any monkey could do it.

I notice a subtle spring-like aroma to Budweiser, and the smoothness is like silk going down. The lighter color helps me realize that it's not a stout, and the non-foamy head prevents the foam-moustache. I can appreciate this beer for what it is, which is a decent inexpensive alcohol beverage.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

I don't drink Budweiser or Bud Light that much mostly because I am from Wisconsin and I like to support my states economy, but I have had it before.

Budweiser is good beer, but Bud Light is too watery for my tastes although I guess they are shooting for "Drinkability". Either way, both of them can't be that hard to reproduce successfully. Especially after doing the same thing for however many thousands of batches they make every year.

By the way, Spotted Cow is still better than both, and I am no beer snob, I drink Miller High Life regularly.

Bud is a sentimental fave of mine, I hate Bud Light, and hate Miller (plus the whole WI thing has that against them).

Sometimes, I'm in the mood for a cheap, mass-produced beer that tastes okay, and goes down nicely. So be it. Other times, I like to chew my beer. Slap Shot and I had a bit of a discussion, and as the seasons turn, so do my tastes. If it's 90 degrees out, I probably won't have a Guinness. But I'll have a Paulaner Hefeweizen. If it's 20 degrees out, it's the reverse.

And MN keeps wanting to turn that corner in playing up to their talent, but some hobo is standing at that corner holding them up, begging for some coin. This weekend, MN better kick that hobo, take what he's collected so far, and march on down that new street.

I agree with the first two sentences. Bud/Inbev and SAB/Miller/Coors together have 95% of the pale lager segment. The two companies mentioned in the previous sentence happen to not be growing as fast as they used to be which is why they have been consolidated in the last five years. Their market share is dropping and they are all concerned.

As for the second paragraph making Budweiser is very difficult. For example, Inbev is brewing Bud like water and if they make mistakes they can't mask the flavor. It takes a lot of effort to make beer with virtually no flavor. The brewing staff has to be a team or else the beer will go down the tubes.

Inbev/Bud owns many breweries around the world and all the them have to be consistently the same or people just will not purchase it anymore.
