Points Leaders (must have picked at least 100 games)
    1. 1988 - 675 Points
    2. SweeneyHawksHockey - 667 Points
    3. SiouxfaninSeattle - 661 Points
    4. Laker Dude - 648 Points
    5. all bear - 638 Points
    6. FS23 - 627 Points
    7. gochiefs - 624 Points
    8. Aerman - 623 Points
    9. Irish08 - 612 Points
    10. FiveHole12 - 610 Points
    11. aygwm2 - 593 Points
    12. vizoroo - 590 Points
    13. Shirtless Bob - 586 Points
    14. drshoen - 569 Points
    15. HoosierPioneer - 567 Points
    16. 97osu - 564 Points
    17. BCeagle - 467 Points
    18. darker98 - 445 Points
    19. driftryder - 323 Points
    20. Terrance - 266 Points
    21. mcfarljd - 178 Points
    22. PcFriars13 - 172 Points
    23. FearTheWarrior - 170 Points

Realistically, anyone in the top 15 or so has a shot to win the points race. There are 200 points up for grabs this week. For the Frozen Four, there will be another 200 points. That means that anyone at 20th position or below is eliminated from this particular championship. Of course, I will continue to keep track of everyone that participates, and I'll post complete and final standings after the season is finished. SweeneyHawksHockey has been on a tremendous charge. Following the Friday games of Week 15, SHH was sitting in 12th position. SHH now sits in 2nd, just 8 points behind 1988, who has been in the top 3 since Week 5 (sitting atop the leaderboard for 11 weeks). Laker Dude has faded slightly, and now sits outside the top 3 for the first time since week 6 (and sat atop the leaderboard for 6 weeks). Of course, our current leader in pick % (see below), FiveHole12 has fallen in the points race. FH12 was in the top 3 from Week 10 to 17 (and lead the points race for 2 weeks), but slipped from 5th to 10th last week. It should be a great race to the finish to see who winds up winning the top prize in pick'em...the Points Title!

Top Prediction Record (Must have picked at least 100 games)
    1. FiveHole12 - 157-96-25
    2. 1988 - 153-100-25
    t3. SweeneyHawksHockey - 152-101-25
    t3. SiouxfaninSeattle - 152-101-25
    5. Aerman - 147-98-23
    6. all bear - 150-103-25
    7. Laker Dude - 149-104-25
    8. Driftryder - 89-62-18
    9. darker98 - 116-82-17
    t10. Irish08 - 147-106-25
    t10. Shirtless Bob - 147-106-25
    12. FearTheWarrior - 63-46-10
    13. drshoen - 141-104-23
    14. BCeagle - 103-75-17
    15. vizoroo - 134-102-22
    16. FS23 - 143-110-25
    17. PcFriars13 - 56-43-11
    18. gochiefs - 136-107-25
    19. 97osu - 135-118-25
    20. HoosierPioneer - 124-109-24
    21. mcfarljd - 51-48-11
    22. aygwm2 - 128-125-25
    23. Terrance - 68-67-15

This race is probably over. There are only 10 games left for this season. FH12 holds a 4 game edge over 1988. Given that they only picked 2 different games this week, the best 1988 can hope for is to tie FH12. Nobody else has a chance (assuming people do not change their picks before the deadline tomorrow) to unseat FH12.
You have a couple of picks that I picked differently. Hopefully you are right.
Believe it. Earn it. Raise it.

FS23, how do you find time to keep up on all of this? I'm about 90 days from retirement and just getting my picks in on time seems like a full time job. You da man in my opinion!!!!!!! From a first year player this has been tons of fun.

I am not 90 days from retirement, but agree with everything else exactly.

I'm glad you've enjoyed it. Excel is a great program, and essentially allows me to maximize time when set up properly. It really doesn't take me much longer than 45 minutes to an hour/week to keep track of everything. Generally, I spend more time typing stuff up here than anything else.

Anyway, good luck the rest of the way in pick'em!

Alright, so to our Pick'em Tournament Bracket...

First of all, points have been awarded for Bonus Questions #3 and #4. Of those still participating in this Tournament, nobody earned negative points for the East Regional Question. Nobody earned bonus points for Question #4, as there were 16,500 in total attendance. Nobody was within 1500 of that number, so no points awarded there. Several got the full 15 points for the East Regional Bonus (#3).

As for Bonus Question #1 (SOG in West), yesterday there were 145 SOG in the two games combined.
As for Bonus Question #2 (PIM in Northeast), yesterday there were 19 penalties for 38 PIM in the two games combined.

Now...on to the analysis of where we stand...

                    Regional Finals:
#5 all bear vs. #12 vizoroo - vizoroo leads 78-65, and owns tiebreaker. Both players have Minnesota coming out of the West Regional, while all bear has Lowell coming out of the Northeast. If the Riverhawks win, all bear will jump ahead by 2 points, and it will come down to BQs 1 and 2. vizoroo predicted 165 SOG, while all bear went with 189. vizoroo predicted 57 PIM, while all bear chose 36. Advantage: vizoroo

#1 1988 vs. #7 gochiefs - 1988 leads 74-65, and owns tiebreaker. Both teams have Minnesota and Lowell winning today, so BQs 1 and 2 will decide their fate. 1988 predicted 175 SOG, while gochiefs predicted 201. 1988 went with 47 PIM, while gochiefs selected 40. This will likely be a close call...Advantage: 1988

#3 SFIS vs. #6 FS23 - FS23 leads 105-73, and owns tiebreaker. Both SFIS and I have Lowell coming out of the Northeast, while SFIS has Minnesota coming out of the West, and I have SCSU winning. If SCSU wins, I would advance (be up 47 points with only 27 left for SFIS to gain in bonus). If Minnesota wins, SFIS would need to win the BQs by 18 points. I predicted only 173 SOG, while SFIS went with 192. I went with only 32 PIM, to SFIS's 44. Advantage: FS23 (I'm sure SFIS is okay with me getting ahead due to North Dakota's victories this weekend )

#2 SweeneyHawksHockey vs. #11 aygwm2 - TIED at 90-90, and SHH owns tiebreaker. Both teams have Minnesota and Lowell winning today, so it will come down to BQs 1 and 2. SHH went with 159 SOG, while aygwm2 went with 178. There is a strong likelihood that neither will earn points for this question (aygwm2 would earn 1 point if there were only 47 SOG today (and 1 additional point for each shot less than that)). That means this matchup likely comes down to PIM in the Northeast...SHH went with 36...aygwm2 went with 42. anywhere from 2-18 PIMs and aygwm2 likely advances. 0 or 19+ and SHH likely wins on the tiebreaker. Advantage: aygwm2

We'll reseed after today's action for the Frozen Four (using updated standings). We will still pick the Frozen Four all at once, but the Tournament will work like this:
                    1. The Thursday Predictions (and Thursday bonus) will determine who advances to the Championship Round.
                    2. The Championship Predictions (and Championship bonus) will determine who wins the Championship Round.

Aren't you looking at finals in about 4 or 5 weeks? Or maybe only one or two for 3Ls?

Well, I am considered a 3Le (third year evening student), as my first two years I worked full time (professor) and went to school at night. I did take extra classes in the summer, so instead of graduating in 4 years (typical for the evening program), I will finish in December (3.5 years). That being said, I will only have 1 true final this semester (Sports Law ), as my other classes all have projects throughout the semester that account for the grade.

I figured as much. I went with my heart, and it worked out (so far). I'd be looking at a perfect bracket had I went with my gut and picked Ferris over Colgate...changed my mind at the last minute because I thought Ferris was fading (along with Colgate's 2-1-0 record against the Bulldogs). I was certainly wrong about that.

Also, congratulations to FiveHole12 for winning the Correct Pick % title. With just two games left to count towards our W-L-T totals, FH12 holds a 3 game advantage over the nearest competitor. As for the points race, it should be a classic finish at the Frozen Four. In theory, anyone in the Top 16 is still mathematically alive, but it looks like it is going to be a race between the top 4 (fitting for the Frozen Four) for the Championship.

Also, our Frozen Four Matchups are...
                              #1 1988 vs. #12 vizoroo
                              #6 FS23 vs. #10 aygwm2

I'll have the games/bonus questions for the Frozen Four up by Friday. Congratulations to those who advanced this week, and also to FiveHole12 for the Correct Pick % Title.

                                WEEKLY RULES:
                                1) All picks must be in by the drop of the puck of the FIRST game! This week, that is THURSDAY at 5:00pm Eastern!
                                2) No late picks will be allowed. NO EXCEPTIONS. This means that if you post your picks on that THURSDAY at 5:01pm Eastern, you will not receive credit for your picks even if the puck has not yet been dropped.
                                3) If you see a mistake within these rules based on the games selected, please note it as soon as possible. If not pointed out by Tuesday, April 8th at 8:00pm (Eastern), the mistake will stay, and I will interpret the mistake as soon as possible.
                                4) If you update your picks before the deadline, please post in this thread to let me know of the changes.

*This will also include any time played on Friday, if required.

** Negative Points will only be counted against your Bonus Points (same as for the Regionals)

*** This will also include any time played on Sunday, if required.

**** Rounded to the nearest minute (for example, if 39 seconds of OT are played in total, then there will be 181 total minutes played (180:39 --> 181). If the teams combine for 6:18 seconds of powerplay time, then there will be 6 powerplay minutes played (6:18 --> 6)).

***** For example, if Person A picks the 51:29 mark, and Person B picks the 6:01 mark of OT, and the goal is scored with 1:18 left on the clock in the third, Person A would win (58:42 - 51:29 = 7:13 off. 66:01 - 58:42 = 7:19 off.)
