The Committee felt that SFIS and FS23 would bring in plenty from the biggest fanbase in college hockey. Coupled with bracket integrity, and it was just too much for the committee to go elsewhere.
Also, STARTING THIS WEEK, PREDICTION TOURNAMENT!! The top 16 posters will square off head to head (this will be in addition to the overall points title). The total points winner from each matchup will advance to the Elite 8 next weekend, where the Frozen 4 will compete during the Frozen Four. Here are the matchups this weekend (don't worry, just predict like you normally would, and I'll figure out the rest...)
Laker Dude's Regional
#1 Laker Dude vs. #16 vizoroo
#8 all bear vs. #9 Irish08
1988's Regional
#2 1988 vs. #15 HoosierPioneer
#7 Aerman vs. #10 gochiefs
SFIS's Regional
#3 SiouxfaninSeattle vs. #14 drshoen
#6 FS23 vs. #11 Shirtless Bob
Sweeney's Regional
#4 SweeneyHawksHockey vs. #13 97osu
#5 FiveHole12 vs. #12 aygwm2
TIEBREAKERS:
1. Total Points scored in the Regional
2. Correct W-L-T eligible game % from the current week
3. Overall correct pick % from the season
4. Coin Flip
RULES:
1. If I notice any sort of "match fixing" (i.e. higher seeded poster purposefully predicts exactly as their opponent to ensure victory), I reserve the right to award the victory to whoever I see fit
2. Any change of predictions must be noted by posting in this thread (just as the normal rules require)
Remember, the overall points title is still like the National Championship and what we should all strive for, but I thought this would be a fun addition for tournament time. Essentially, you should still just worry about predicting like you normally would, and everything else will fall into place.[/QUOTE]
Why is drshoen in my regional? Attendance is going to suck!

BONUS QUESTION #1: (15 points if correct, for each number off take 1 point away until 0 (can't go into the negative)):
Total number of Saves in the NCHC this weekend (4 games) - 224
BONUS QUESTION #2: (15 points if correct, for each number off take 1 point away until 0 (can't go into the negative)):
Total number of goals in college hockey this weekend (Thursday-Saturday, 21 games) - 123
Overall, we went a combined 55.56% on our picks this last week...not bad considering the disaster that was last year. Unfortunately that means that our overall pick % remained pretty stagnant, and it will be probably impossible (minus some perfect predictions and the like) to reach 60%. The big winner this week was SiouxfaninSeattle, who put up 85 points, thanks in large part to a solid record (16-10-0, tied for second best), and scoring 21 points on the OT minutes bonus. drshoen had the top prediction % this week, correctly prediction 17 of the 26 possible outcomes correct. vizoroo also scored an impressive correct bonus prediction, correctly forecasting 357 shots on goal in B1G play this weekend. Anyway...
Obviously, things tightened up at the top this week. When you consider that SFIS gained 25 points on first place, that should indicate that anything is possible during the playoffs. With another 150 points on the line in Week 24, we could very well see some more jumbling of the standings.

WEEKLY RULES:
1) All picks must be in by the drop of the puck of the FIRST game in the bunch. This week, that is THURSDAY at 3:00pm Eastern!
2) No late picks will be allowed. NO EXCEPTIONS. This means that if you post your picks on that THURSDAY at 3:01pm Eastern, you will not receive credit for your picks.
3) Do NOT pick a tie. If you do, you will lose 4 points.
4) All correct picks will earn 4 points (unless stated otherwise). If a game ends in a tie (regardless of shootout), you will receive 2 points, unless you picked a tie, in which case you will LOSE 4 points. DO NOT PICK A TIE.
5) If you see a mistake within these rules based on the games selected, please note it as soon as possible. If not pointed out by Tuesday, March 18th at 8:00pm (Eastern), the mistake will stay, and I will interpret the mistake as soon as possible.
6) Anyone can play. You do not have to continue to predict after this week. You didn't have to predict last week.
