Always nice to get points from Michigan. They were very fortunate to get those 2 points last night. The first 30 minutes were pretty even and then Michigan turned up the pressure on all ends of the ice and the Buckeyes had trouble controlling the puck at times. Michigan owned the last 30 minutes of that hockey game and Tomkins stole those 2 points. Once again the PP had a ton of trouble after the initial entry into the zone. That is about 6 games in a row where they have had that kind of trouble regaining the zone after the first clear. Get that win tomorrow and control there fate for 3rd place and avoiding the Gophers in the Semis if they can get that far.
I thought Tomkins was pretty strong in goal for not having a lot of recent ice time. We NEED 3 points out of the game at NWA.
Hope some folks can come out and join us at 11a at R Bar. Hopeful that the weather coming in won't keep people at home, but hope it keeps some *ichigan fans back in *ichigan! Go Bucks!
Re: Ohio State Buckeyes - Coach Rohlik - First Year in the Big Ten
Michigan's PP was the big difference today. Dumb penalties put the Buckeyes in a hole they could not dig out of. Once again the Buckeye PP could not get the puck into the zone after the initial clear that has become an on going problem for the last month. Tomkins was pretty good again and really could not be faulted on any of the 4 Michigan goals. All 3 losses to Michigan were by 1 goal and in all 3 of them the winning goal was either a defensive breakdown or a stupid Penalty that lead to the goals. Minnesota comes in this weekend and we better see a different team than we saw today or it will be hard to get points out of next weekend.
Michigan did well backchecking but these were just plain misses on our part by misjudging the puck, not bounces over the stick either.
Lots and lots of blame to go around with the entire team. We did NOT step up, this wasn't the same team that played on Friday night at the Yost. Stupid, stupid penalties in the first period just buried us in a hole we could not dig out. Sounds like Szczechura is out for the rest of the season. That is not going to help going forward.
Need to regroup for MN, we need some points this weekend!
The brighter side, attendance was 5,785 at Nationwide. The Scarlet Liners pre-game social drew in over 60 fans at R Bar. So the fans are still in the game, we just need the team to join us and find a way to WIN.
Disappointing, yes...but remembering where this team came from and what it rebuilt just a few short months ago without a goalie, this season is turning a lot of heads. A lot of folks on this board threw Logan Davis under the bus after the last *ichigan series, but the entire team owns this one. Aside from all of that, I'm proud of OUR team and its future.

Losing Szczechura will be a serious blow as his intensity on the ice has been a tremendous asset! I don't understand how when Michigan got their even strength goal why we didn't challenge them when they were passing the puck around looking for an opportunity. All you have to do is hit the guy with they puck and take him off it or cover them tightly instead of being well away from them.

Most of us don't understand. This was not the same team from Friday. Maybe early penalties in the first period scared them off? I don't know...but gotta chase down the puck and challenge, we did none of that today.
Yeah, and not challenging enough in the neutral zone. When we try to move the puck through it, it like changes possession 6 times!
Could be worse, we could be Miami of all teams! Anyone headed to St. Paul for playoffs? The Scarlet Liners working with OSU and Roosters for a viewing party here in Columbus.

Mrs 86 and I will not be heading to St. Paul. Maybe when the Big Ten Tournament moves to the Joe, but we will not be able to make it to St. Paul. We would definitely be interested in a watch party at Roosters, whether it's at Henderson Road or the campus location on Olentangy River Road.
