  • Bentley Falcons 2013-2014: No offseason. No excuses.

Like I said, I think it was time for a new thread after reading the ESPN Boston story on Team Impact.

It's obvious last year on the ice was a disappointment. But I think with some perspective, this is still a talented hockey team with a very high ceiling.

Next year's schedule obviously hasn't been released, but it's going to be very ambitious. The team is opening the year with two at Nebraska-Omaha, which should be on the first weekend of the season in October (the weekend of 10/10 and 10/11). They're supposed to be playing a return game against UMass-Lowell at the JAR from last year; you all will conceivably remember that the Falcons were supposed to play at UML this year and host them on 12/30/12 but it was moved to at UML with the home game at the JAR deferred. I imagine that site should change to Tsongas.

Bentley will also have arguably its biggest game ever in '13-'14. They're going to Agganis to play BU. Date hasn't been announced yet.

Things I would like to see in 13 14

The boys standing in a tight game it always looks awkward when the other team stands while our boys sit.

Why doesn't anyone grow a playoff beard?

Change our teams luck hockey is a game with quirky traditions

My guess is that the UML game next season will be again played at Tsongas, especially if the River Hawks go deep in the NCAAs.

Any word on N/C games aside from UNO and UML? Harvard rematch?

I have no idea how this works in college hockey, but.... in college football, it is very common to move the second game of the home-and-home series back to the dominant program...with a nice payout for the traveling team. Wonder if Bentley would get a check for traveling to Tsongas in lieu of having the game at the JAR.

                    Soderquist won't allow it.

Bentley is drawing BU next year at Agganis. One of Jack Parker's acts last year was to want Ryan Soderquists team. Jack at the time felt like he was sticking on for one more year.

Ryan Soderquist was also named as a possible suitor for the BU job. But it was obvious BU had Quinn as the guy. Still, it's no secret Jack has a ton of respect for Soderquist and what they've been trying with the Bentley program.

Are you kidding me? I thought it was odd watching other teams standing while our guys sit! You know sometimes change is good! You have to make changes and allowing the team to stand seems pretty simple!

This actually has nothing to do with coaches orders. This has to do more with disjointed nature of the team this season, which we've been discussing. It's not an allowance thing. Some guys stood. Others didn't. Coach has more important things in game to worry about than "hey you guys can't stand up"

Nothing wrong with having your guys sit, get rested between shifts. Umile at UNH only allowed JVR to stand at the end of the bench, given that JVR was one of his few NHL draft picks.

And, the reason that I wanted the tie in our final regular season game was that I thought we would have a better chance against RIT instead of Canisius, which is now up 3-1 over Quinnipiac.
