While I was watching the Lady Falcons on-line I kept my other eye on the score of this game. "Looks like they're taking care of business!", I said while it was 4-1.

And so here we are now.

I suppose it really ought to be tied at one, with each team winning (and losing) a game they shouldn't have.

My concern from before the series was how Bentley's D would perform against the offense from Canisius. The Griffs are a super efficient team that can score four goals in 16 minutes to make up for the fact that they played like crap for the other 44 minutes or worse. They sit back and wait, wait, wait until they're rady to attack. And when they attack, it's GAME ON. That makes them dangerous.

It's very much a rope-a-dope style. They let you pound them, pound them, pound them, and then they unleash hell and fury with lethal efficiency. So far, they've won most of the battles, even though Bentley is tied. The Falcons needed a mad dash 26 second comeback and OT goal to beat them in Game 1. They collaped in Game 2. Anyone doubting the Griffins chance in Game 3 are really taking this on the chin.

If Bentley wins, it's RMU or Air Force. If Canisius wins, it's Mercyhurst for next opponent.

Tough 3-2 loss for the Falcons.

Another all western pod AHA tourney in Rochester, which is getting old.

But, this Bentley team was my all-time favorite. Thank you, seniors, for your leadership this year. I think that you have left a legacy that will pay dividends for Bentley hockey moving forward. Best wishes with your careers, wherever those may take you.

I would like to congratulate this team and the senior class. Although I am disappointed in the loss the team played to the very end. The seniors were great and they brought us some great hockey this year. Good luck to all the seniors and let's hope Bentley can continue their growth. I want to come back some day to a rink on campus. Good luck to the returning players!

This team just ran out of gas tonight. They looked like they were skating in wet cement in the 2nd. No shame in it, as it's a third consecutive day of hockey, following two overtime games, against a bigger squad. Herculean effort just came up short.

I'm depressed and will drink now.

I'm interested what the team's record was after Marginsky went down hurt. The defense seemingly lost its edge at times during the year and reverted back to old form. While this team was able to score goals, they lacked the killer edge and let Canisius back in with Game Two. Then they ran out of gas on the third game. The unfortunate thing is that while we'd go back and analyze this and figure out what went wrong or what happened, it makes little difference because there is no practice to fix it and there is no next day. Instead we're left to watch another western team (again) hoist the trophy in Rochester and make it to the NCAA Tournament. This leaves the rest of the AHA complaining, once again, that the east high seeds are nothing more than paper seeds who make it to the home series based on the fact that they feast on bad teams.

This was one heckuva season, but for another year, we're left to wonder what if.

Side note follow up. Bentley went 7-4-2 without Marginsky. Prior to him getting hurt against RIT, the team was 9-3-2 in conference play. I focus on the conference numbers because I think we can throw out the OOC records given how the year started.

Again, I don't think he's the missing link, but he was definitely a big part.

It's hard to watch everyone beat around the bush. No, Marginsky was not the missing piece to a championship team. He put up 14 points and ~80 pims in 4 years as a 6'7" kid (not exactly a physical threat...). Dan, of all Soderquist apologists, said it after the game last night and I'm going to hold him to it.... something along the lines of "This team just finished its 15th year in Division 1 hockey, and they have yet to raise a banner." I'm sure you didn't mean to, but you hit the nail on the head.

As an alumni of this program, bowing out in the second round with this team is embarrassing. This was far and away the most talent a Bentley team has had. A little weak on the defensive side, but Komm more than made up for it. This was a better team top to bottom than the 2009 group that went to Rochester (in arguably a tougher league that year too).

I'm sure it's hard to oust an alumni from the head spot, but if after this season you can't start to question it, when can you? The program has certainly grown under Soderquist, there's no doubt. But there's no reason the athletic dept should accept a lifetime of mediocre results, after allowing him 15 years to win a title. You can say "keep your heads up, there's always next year" but the fact is, teams like this for Bentley do not come around that often.

I'm in no way affiliated with Bentley, but I've enjoyed covering a few Falcons games this season for SBNation. I grew up playing hockey and have seen thousands of hockey games to be able to "nitpick" some coaching decisions. I could argue that not rolling four lines hurt the Falcons towards end of season, but the lack of depth was noticeable so maybe coach Soderquist had no choice.

With that being said, Soderquist and his coaching staff deserve tremendous credit for getting players like Gensler, Grieve, Gladiuk, Weinstein, Blomquist, Komm, French, Switzer, etc. The administration at Bentley needs to step up and build a UConn-size rink on campus. Just a nice solid rink that will hold 1200-1800.

That's where the blame is - the administration, not on a head coach and his staff that work hard with little in the way of financial support.

I have no skin in whether coach is the problem as I am not sure! What I do know is the team had one line all weekend! Look st the stats! The defense seem to get lost each game for a long time ( 10 minutes or more). I feel bad for the guys they all played but losing two lines of fire power hurt! Glads not scoring, French, Breton..... This just hurt the overall play. Gensler , Grieve,and Switzer did all that they could ! It was a great team fun to watch! I leave the coach stuff to all of you! They need a rink!

Wishing the senior class well, they will be missed.

This team could have gone deep into the playoffs with a different coaching staff IMHO.
