Warning is a big part of that and the chemistry of the top of the lineup that has developped this year. So if Lucia was going to do that anyways, he should have gone even further and sat a few more players who may have been a bit hung over from winning the title. Get our scratches like R. Riley and Michaelson some more ice time. Guys that have more to prove and might give that extra effort that sure looked like may have been lacking. Not on purpose, but just a natural let down in that game.

Also do you guys really think that we all believe that we let you win the game? Yes, it comes off that way but we are playing up the stereotype of the tArrogance that we've always been accused of having. We have fought it for a while and realize that is how people see us no matter what, so we just embraced it. Don't take it so seriously and boycot the thread. To me, that's the fun part of being here. Mixing it up with other fan bases. If we didn't want to do that, we'd just stick to our own team's board. You guys don't want to participate, I guess that's your choice. We were obviously disappointed no one wanted to engage with us, but please don't complain about it.

That's all. Good luck and maybe see you again.
Funny that think that you're more arrogant than Michigan. You have nothing to be arrogant about (well you are good at hockey but that's it)....

I'm not necessarily proud of it but Michigan is far more arrogant than you, and we have reason to be...

Running the Pairwise predictor: Michigan makes #14 (just above the cut line) if:

      Wisc beats OSU
      UM-Low beats UNH
      WMU beats NoDak

      AHA title (RMU/Canisius) doesn't matter
      ECAC title (Union/Colgate) doesn't matter
      NCHC title (DU/Miami) doesn't matter
WCHA title (Ferris/Minn St) doesn't matter

Michigan would be in, NoDak would be out.

Is that still the case even with North Dakota playing a third place game should they win that?

Yes. This calculation includes the NCHC 3rd place game (WMU/NoDak).

            Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

This is merely a guess on my part but now that we have missed the NCAA's for two straight years I think that Coach Berenson will step down. Anyone else have an opinion?

Please note, I am not saying that he should but I recall talking to Gordie several years ago and he told me that his Dad will step-down if he hinders that program. Everything that I know about Coach Berenson is that he is a tremendous man and that Hockey isn't his priority, helping develop great young men is. Two years of missing the tournament looks lik holding back the program to me. Does anyone know how much time is left on his contract?

Wild idea, doesn't it expire the same time as Mel's at Tech? Is that a possibility? Would Mel come home?

              Mel is home!!!

You can try to replace Red and live in mediocrity for a few years. Be careful what you wish for.

We've already seen this porn before with the Football program.

Thing there is that we had a bunch of stooges concerned with their own agendas running the search. TWICE this happened and I wouldn't doubt that it will happen a third.

The AD here does not hire anyone at the HC position without prior HC experience. The overwhelming thought here is that Mel made his little trip up North for a few years to get the experience and then will come back when Red goes out with an NCAA Championship. Yeah, that last part ain't happening.

Notice what happened since Mel left to go up North? Bad things.

And despite the smoke and mirrors of the wins and great players, go back and look at what this program has done since the 1998 NCAA Championship. Tell me that isn't depressing given the talent this program has had come through here.

Jack Johnson. We had Jack ****ing Johnson and couldn't win an NCAA Championship. Kevin Porter, Hensick, Kolarik, Montoya, Cammalleri, Hunwick brothers, Hagelin. Since 1998, Michigan was only on the brink of the National Championship ONCE.

Michigan should have at least two more by now. Winning the conference and conference tournaments as well as getting to the Frozen Four is a great accomplishment. But when you have that kind of talent year in and year out, more is expected.

                      PDG is gone.

One wonders if the lack of development is making them want to leave....

No, I think it is lack of heart. Both Guptill and PDG rode the bus the last two seasons. Making this a "development" case blames coaching. I blame them.

If that's the case, then it would surely hurt the pay that both players will get- since their play is pretty obvious to see.

Think we are clearing out some less than decent apples?

As much as I like the scoring touch of a Guptill and PDG, I'd be happier with some solid two way forwards. How many times was Guptill a healthy scratch in his career at Michigan? We know it's not for lack of talent/skill.

Now, someone will have to remind me I said that next season when I wonder why we can't score. We're losing 3 of our top 5 goal scorers/point getters (Moffatt who is graduating and PDG were tied for 2nd with 13 goals each).

I know as Michigan fans our expectation is that we not only should make the NCAA tourney every year, but that we should be competing for the national title every year. For me, only being a fan of the program since 2001, I just assumed making the tourney was easy. Heck, my first several years as a hockey fan, we made the Frozen Four every year.

To go from that to reflecting on the season before Regionals have begun is sad. However, when you look at last year and this year, both teams were just 1 win away from making the tournament. The team finished the year with a winning record in the B1G and overall, 2 wins shy of a 20 win season.

If we start looking to next year, hopefully our goaltenders will only improve. I think Nagelvort improved this season. Both he and Racine are decent. Our D should be pretty solid. Yes, we lose Bennet and Clare, but I think a season with a healthy Lohan and a Downing who has a year of knowing what NCAA refs call as penalties can begin to make up for the loss of those seniors.

Scoring will be the question mark. Copp and Compher will be expected to produce. It'd be good to see Boo get more goals.

Then again, maybe I should just wait to see if anyone else bails before thinking about next season.

Also, how good would this team have been if we had had Trouba for another season?
