Turk-A goal, an assist, and a penalty-that has to be some sort of hat trick doesn't it? He doubled his penalty minutes in one game!

after a very slow start Melanson has surpassed Jake Wood in scoring,,,,, not that either one is lighting it up. As Doc Emerick might say, probably means nothing, so why did I just waste time saying it

Even with yesterday's penalty, I don't think that he will catch up in penalties.

No, it is an important observation. Perhaps there was a reason for a rather slow start for Drew in the USHL? Two things are for certain-he will not be taking a lot of penalties anywhere he plays and he will always look to set up his teammates before taking his own shot. (although i do expect him to be shooting more as he progresses)

It would seem that the biggest loss for us and the hardest to replace is the offense we get from Nick Bailen. Most teams just do not see that much scoring and offensive chances coming from their back lines. Is Reno going to be that kind of player for us, or has SA decided that we will be accepting less offense from the D corps and getting more up front like most other teams do? I do not think we have anyone currently on our team who can step into that role.

As a comparison, take a look at a kid like Mark Miller. It took him forever to register points last year in the USHL, and this year he has 7 goals and assists in half the time. Maybe Drew just wasn't used to the pro-style schedule and felt he needed to "leave enough in the tank" for the rest of the season? Perhaps he'll really pour it on in the shorter college season.

this will indeed be interesting to see how next year unfolds. We've come to rely (?) on 30pts from Nicky the past 3 years from the blueline. Watching about a dozen Edina games this year I haven't seen much of an offensive input from Reno....not to say he can't become capable at it. As far as stepping into that role next year I'm still confident that might be Hampton.
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

I'd think Bokenfohr more than Hampton (he did see some power play time this year), but obviously we can argue that one on the main thread. Perhaps it's a good thing that we don't have a roving D-man? You can almost tell that D-corps that don't stay home drives Appert and Vines crazy. If Reno is playing the stay-at-home nothing-gets-by-you type with a solid one-timer, I'd be happy.
