At least when St. Cloud State loses to Michigan in the first round of this tournament it won't be a total choke job. My feelings toward the 2000-2001 Huskies are very similar to my feelings toward the 1998 Vikings.

I don't know about this simulator - penalties to Eades, Archibald, Ludwig and Patrick? Those guys were choirboys!

                  Minnesota - Robb Stauber

Michigan State has a 51.72% chance of victory. Minnesota has a 48.28% chance of victory.

Puck set to drop in about 10 minutes!

The '76-'77 Wisconsin Badgers just arrived. They'll take on the winner of this game in the Round of 64.

Singing the National Anthem today, are the members from the hit band - Crazy Town

That was a beautiful performance...I bet they make it big.

Both bands are in full form, and the game is about to begin. Minnesota is wearing their famed Maroon, while the Spartans are in White. State traveling from Right to Left.

                  1st Period:
                  - Puck has dropped and we're underway from Lake Placid!
                  - Dave Snuggerud nearly puts the Gophers up, but Ryan Miller with a tremendous save. Snuggerud was wide open in the slot, but his wrister was gloved by Miller.

                  - Now Larry Olimb nearly buries a chance on a wraparound, but Miller gets his leg over just in time to keep this game scoreless. 16:30 left in the 1st, Gophers are buzzing.

Previous Update post was too long, so this post will serve as the remaining Update post (assuming we can get a winner before 6 or 7 OTs )

                          2nd Overtime:
                          - Michigan State all over Minnesota here early in the 2nd OT. Liles with a nice chance from the blue line, but his shot is redirected. 19:00 left in the 2nd OT
                          - Now it's Hall's turn to be stoned by Stauber, as Hall comes in from the circles, makes a nice deke from his backhand to his forehand, but Stauber gets his leg out to stop the shot. 17:30 left in the 2nd OT.
                          - Minnesota starting to mount some pressure. Miller forced to save three consecutive shots in the span of about 8 seconds, but he's up to the task. 16:00 left in 2OT
                          - Woog up again to jab at the refs. Apparently, Woog felt that the refs missed an obvious hooking call behind the net. 15:00 left in 2OT
                          - John Nail hits the post!! My goodness, Nail comes in on a clean breakway, dekes Stauber, but his shot rings off the crossbar!! 13:30 left in 2OT
                          - Ryan Miller gobbles up a Todd Richards shot from the blue line. Just under 12:00 left in 2OT
                          - John Anderson SCORES!!! Michigan State failed to clear the zone, and Randy Skarda launched a slap shot that missed the net, banked out in front to Anderson who was all alone. Anderson one-times the puck past Miller, and the Gophers win! Minnesota will advance to take on the 1976-1977 Wisconsin Badgers in the Round of 64
                          - Shots in the 2nd OT: Minnesota - 6 (45 Total), Michigan State - 2 (44 Total)

                          What a game!

Stauber and Miller gave up 5 goals each?

Great job on the Crazy Town reference.
Thanks. I figured I'll bring in some of the "hit bands" from around the time of the home team to sing the national anthem.

And I too thought it was odd that both Stauber and Miller allowed that many goals, but they were largely due to special teams (each team had 3 Special Teams goals)

Perhaps, I missed an explanation, but can someone explain how an upset can occur in this tournament?

                                I think an upset just happened, a #71 beat a #58.
