I'm not going to write any checks (hey someone had to come up with the $$$ for Notre Dame's new arena and I'm not a bottomless pit ) but the statement from BGSU sounds good. Little in terms of uncertainty as it sounds like they realize how much the tradition of BG hockey means to their athletic history. Hopefully the future of BGSU hockey is looking brighter day by day.

Hey, it's just that Dennis Williams used to be our AC.

Wait, you thought I had an ulterior motive?

Yeah, BGSU may want to piggyback some of their fliers with UAH's.

"Bowling Green's hockey program is receiving a second chance.
The university said this morning it anticipates being able to announce a fundraising campaign in the next 7-10 days to endow scholarships for the hockey program and to renovate the BGSU Ice Arena.
School president Dr. Carol Cartwright is scheduled to meet today with a representative of Bentz Whaley Flessner, a national fundraising consulting firm.
The university is using the firm to assess the potential for funding that could be raised by such a campaign.
The firm's report was due to the university by the end of August. Cartwright expects to have its recommendations this week.
Although Cartwright declined to say how long the fundraising campaign would last, most sources have said the program will have 3-5 years to raise the needed money. "

BGSU hockey fans can breath a little easier now, as the new season approaches.
    Great news!

This is great news! The CCHA would not be the same without Bugzoo.

Yeah that is really good news. We don't want to lose any NCAA hockey teams.

Now that the University and state have done their part, the burden falls on the alumni to be actively involved. That means attending games and/or contributing financially. Reminiscing about the old days isn't enough. This program won't survive without consistent alumni support that other successful programs exhibit.
This year the program offers an inexpensive season ticket package for those of you who can't attend games due to being out of the area. Check it out on the new BGSUFalcons.com website. For those of you on LinkedIn, there is a Bowling Green Hockey group that gives weekly updates on the program as well as the BG Hockey on Facebook, which is huge.
There is no reason this program can't return to dominance it once held. Hockey is Bowling Green's legacy; not any other sport. Get involved!!!!!!!

Good deal. Always did like Westy, and not just because he was a good drinking buddy...

Considering the recent state of the program, I don't believe they could have gotten a better benchmeister. Perhaps if the money & support materializes as they envision, BGSU could become a destination rather than a ~means~ to a destination. BGSU coaching alum are everywhere.
