Good point and apparently the "others" will be carefully scrutinized by Lucia and co. to determine future ice time:

How do you get ‘up’ for a weekend like this after playing their first road series and first conference series? “There’s still a lot to play for. We’re going to play some guys that haven’t played on Friday night for awhile. They’re going to get their opportunity, and it’s a big opportunity for them because if they don’t show well, they might not get in.

So you're a nozzle on multiple fronts, uh? Good job.

Won't much matter, the result will be the same. But it will be a good opportunity for the coaches to take a real good look at a half-dozen players who will want to prove that they belong on one of the top 3 units.

bjugstad should do whatever he wants out there on the ice with 17 year olds.

MN Hockey Magazine (@mnhockeymag) #Gophers coach Don Lucia says Brady Skjei, Kyle Rau, and Mark Alt will be held out of Friday's exhibition with minor nagging injuries.

MN Hockey Magazine (@mnhockeymag) Lucia said Skjei also won't play against Canisius on Sunday but should be ready to practice next week. #Gophers

I am too! The US Under-18 showed they play against D1 teams a couple weeks ago in 6-4 loss to UND. They had a bad first period and gave up three goals; and then played two very solid periods of hockey. Hudson Fasching had a goal and two assists in that game. He's quite a hockey player:

"He's as intelligent a player as you'll ever see," said Apple Valley hockey coach Jerry Hayes of Fasching, who led the team with 36 points in the regular season last year. "It's a rink rat's mind in a skilled player. Attach that to the physical attributes and it's really something amazing."
If you haven't read Hudson's story it's well worth the read. Not only is Hudson another golden recruit for the Golden Gophers, but he's a kid with a heart of gold from an amazing family. Article on Hudson Fasching.

They've both got to be pretty excited, as well as a little nervous. No doubt each will be going 120% to make a good impression on their future teammates and coaches.
