Listening to a sound bite from Eaves and it sounds like Zengerle won't play Friday and Saturday will be wait-and-see. Better than nothing, I suppose. Will be turning on NBC Sports Channel Friday night to check out Kerdiles and see if the Badgers can play with some pride.

At yesterday's presser even...Eaves was saying they were hoping to get a stick in his hands this week and that in a couple of weeks he would be a 'maybe'.

VERY interesting. Maybe Eaves is weary that 1-9-2 (a plausible enough outcome) will be insurmountable in terms of making the NCAA's or a WCHA top 5.

I just hope if he plays he doesn't injure himself further

I can't remember the last time that I felt that the team might have a chance to win a game in OT, he had them put serious pressure on in the offensive end and try to force the other team to make a mistake.
You are not alone in this feeling. Eaves style late in games is to play not to lose instead of playing to win, hence the reason they haven't won a WCHA game in OT since the 3rd place game in 2007. They had nothing to gain win or lose since they were already out based on the PWR.

At this point, getting through the first minute of OT seems like a moral victory. It seems like we've had many OT losses in that first minute over the recent past including dedication night vs CC.

What I really can't understand, outside of injuries, this is the same team as last year who was playing well at the end of the season minus Justin Schultz and a couple guys who didn't play much or have a big role.

If Justin Schultz was the glue that was holding everything together to this extent, then the NCAA needs to give him the Hobey Baker since he meant more to this team than anyone could possibly imagine.

This team could easily be 4-4-2 and be respectable right now, and it would have just meant finishing a few games early on. If that was the case we wouldn't be having these discussions, because it would be a decent start considering the Kerdiles suspension, etc. I'm trying to get excited about the upcoming series listening/watching them if they are going to play uninspired hockey.

Taft is very good (EDIT, I'm basing this on the UW series where he certainly seemed to be a decent player and could skate well), Riley Smith would have been great, he was a 20-goal scorer IIRC

Thanks. Saw I was wrong about the faceoff part on Sat night. Same spot, though.

I remember watching the NODAK games at a youth hockey tournament together with my teammates. Those were two fantastic endings to hard fought games.
Heatley was an uncommon scorer, but Reinprecht could disrupt defenses like few I've seen with his ability to control the puck and dish it out. That was a marriage made in heaven--or hell, as we Sioux fans saw it.

There have been a lot of comments on the Hukalo goals, but I recall them both coming off offensive zone faceoffs, with Reinprecht getting the draw to someone who dished it to Hukalo between the circles. I'm quite sure that is how it happened on Friday night--it was right in front of me. If that's not how it happened on Sat, someone who remembers better can straighten me out. What are the chances . . . two overtime goals by the same guy from the same spot on the ice in the same series, both off faceoffs?

After all these years, it still smells of a fix.
