Re: '12-13 Michigan Tech Season Thread: Screw the Election, Let's Play Hockey!
Good 4-0 Win
Mel's postgame thoughts:
Copley made some good saves, a critical one in 2nd to keep it 2-0 and then we score to make it 3-0
He's played well for us
Gordic back for first time in 4 games, that Junior line could've had a couple, one of Gordic's best games in awhile
Furne had a couple chances, J. Johnstone skated well, they did what we wanted
Fillion looked solid, he can add somethign when he's playing well
14 shots on PP, played well enough to score more than one, didn't score on best chances
Need to plaay a certain when we get up, don't put on a show, keep pushing
We played last week, Bemidji didn't, might've helped us early in game
Lineup thoughts: we may see some changes, can't be satisfied when you win, need guys to understand they have to play their best game all night
Thanks to the fans, tough night to come out with the weather, haven't been home in awhile, means a lot to the team to see the fans and energy in the building
Hopeful for a big crowd tomorrow

So a Bemidji player got a 10 minute misconduct without another accompanying penalty. Any idea what's that about.Originally posted by SCSU EuroWhat are you TALKING about? Originally posted by eye4talent View PostYost is the best IMO. and even better now after the new renovations. i was just there a few weeks ago. i respectfully disagree with you on the atmosphere being better at the Mac. Yost seats 8,000 and is sold out most of the time. the crowd is always raucous and the band is on par with Tech's pep band. The Mac is usually half full at best. I'm sorry but watching a game in a half full arena doesn't compare. i dont care how comfortable the seats are.
Hell, the Berry Events Center sucks something fierce, but they have better atmosphere than Yost. I've been to both a handful of times.

2-2 Tie
Mel's postgame thoughts:
It's all about the start, tough start, though we were ready, but Bemidji was more ready
Copley was outstanding, kept us in the game in 1st period
We regrouped, played much better after 1st
Bemidji played more of their style tonight, didn't give us a chance to forecheck
We got better as the game went on
On Bemidji breakaway, we got mesmerized by the puck, lucky bounce and their two guys were off, our dmen need to read that
Furne goal, he starting to light up now, good for him,
Jake Johnstone had a good weekend, skated much better, get those guys going will help
Rix-A. Pietila-Eick line was fine, Rix with the breakaway, good try
Good job by PKs tonight, don't know what to except anymore with refs
B Pietila-kero-Petan line was great, will be a fun line to watch
Wish we were playing next weekend, hard to stop and get going again
It looked like some freshmen could use some rest, Blake too, we'll work on some things
We'll get healthy, Gordic was out tonight, Sova will get closer to game shape
Likteig too, could've played tonight, but will give him another week off
Long trip to UNO in a few weeks, every night points are important
A lot to talk about on Mel Pearson show, will have an event next Saturday we can talk about

This team can still put together a decent finish. Split in Omaha, sweep Anchorage during Carny, beat Northern at home, and things look a lot better going into tough road games at Mankato and St. Cloud. Fortunately, this is our last bye weekend.

It's going to be almost impossible to get home ice but we might sneak into 7th. To do that though we have to beat out CC who we play at the end of the year. And coach was right we need some points every weekend now going forward.
Looks like to me Wisconsin will get home ice, and if Duluth can get some points this coming week they are in good shape to make a push.So It should be a very interesting finish. I don't think any of the teams we would end up against is particularly desirable but it would be good not to have to go to st cloud. The league is especially close this year talent wise.MTU: Three time NCAA champions.

Any more details on the scoreboard? There were a couple posts about it being a "go" but not much more. Are we still talking about a center hung video board or an end of rink type model? I would think if they do one on the end of the rink that pretty much says there won't be an expansion in that area for decades. A center hung leaves the future expansion available without scrapping a scoreboard.
