Pretty cool for him though to finally get his shot as a senior. Anything he provides would be a bonus.
LOL... you watch! Gonna get his first at home tomorrow.
(and I was originally going to predict 10 goals)

Looks like Kevin Hayes may indeed be having the breakout year that many predicted with a 3-3-6 scoring line in 5 games. Probably didn't reach the 3 goal mark until the 2nd semester last season.

Where's that dope who was arguing all off-season that BC wasn't even an NCAA tourney team this year? 3 weeks in and still #1 in the Country!

Hayes looks spectacular so far. He really does.

Let's calm things down a bit; we appear to have quite a few question marks thus far. More so than last year it seems.

Bottom six has still yet to contribute a point so far. Very worrisome. Definitely have to consider breaking up the top two lines to spread scoring out.

But boy that Matheson kid is so good. Smooth skater. Great vision. Good size. Can definitely see why he is a first round pick looks to be one of the best freshman at BC in a while.

I'm still not sure about this. There's really very little wiggle room out there for changing up the lines. As someone mentioned maybe Linell would be able to do damage on a higher line but the top line is crazy good and shouldn't be touched. At this point Hayes Arnold Straight is playing well. Maybe Straight could be replaced as Hayes and Arnold are doing a lot more damage than Straight. But I think you leave things like they are for now and go with it. It is what it is, top heavy team with the top 6 and two fourth lines basically.

It's not so much them getting on the score sheet as it is being able to play them to eat up icetime and keep the other team off the score sheet. If they can do that I'm fine with depending on the top 2 lines for scoring.

I liked Spiro getting in there tonight. He looked ok. Might be time to get him and Silk in there together and see what you can get.

Trivino has never been one of those players. Even outside of the rink, he'll say hi and is plenty of friendly, but has never been even close to saying or doing anything inappropriate.

It is a bit concerning about the lack of scoring from the bottom 2 lines, but we're still scoring 3+ goals per game which isn't bad. With basically two #1 lines, I think the 3rd line will get regular shifts being a solid checking/defensive line, while the 4th line will clearly end up sitting during pressure situations. When we'll be in trouble is if we lose a couple key guys to injury, as there won't be much solid depth to replace them. Aside from the situation at forward, I think we should be pretty satisfied with how the freshmen defensemen have played/adjusted, which really was the biggest question mark coming into the season.

The lines should definitely stay the same. The first line is the best in the nation I would think and the second line is playing phenomenal. The third line is generating some chances and are playing better and better each night. The defense is really improving although I hope the staff gives Jeke a go on Friday @ Maine.

Exactly! Two very strong lines will provide us with plenty of scoring (some teams don't even have one strong line), the key is whether that 4th line especially can at least eat up some minutes without giving up a lot of goals. I feel like the 3rd line can already do that, the 4th I'm not so sure about. As far as the bottom 6, you have to figure that Silk has some talent or he wouldn't have been on the NTDP and Linell was also a highly sought recruit. Between the other 4 guys, take the one with the most upside and try to cobble together a 3rd line that could give you an occasional goal, or you could mix those 3 with the top 6 and probably come up with 3 pretty decent lines. I still think Straight is a key guy that needs to develop, as he's falling a bit behind Arnold and Hayes in the scoring dept, but then again, he is a bit younger and only a Sophmore. It's hard to believe that Vatrano's absence would create such a void, but I really think that if he were around, we'd be able to skate 3 scoring lines, maybe something like:

                          Linell/Mullane/Whitney
                          Vatrano/Straight/Gaudreau
                          Hayes/Arnold/Silk

If you rely on 2 lines and someone gets hurt or something happens you are in deep trouble. Now is the time to break the lines up put someone like Silk on line 1 with Mullane and Gaudreau. Put Hayes and Arnold with Linell. Put Straight and Whitney together with Sit. If it doesn't work there is plenty of time to switch back, but it is better to be experimenting now than in February.

I don't see the need. We are scoring goals and beating good hockey teams. It's not like the third line never gets in the opponents end and the fourth line is playing better. No need to switch especially with two weak opponents upcoming
