I think overall, no one on either side knows what to make of this weekend. From the BC side they had a dominant run to start the year, hit a snag just before the break and have been sluggish since coming back. This weekend will be Gaudreau's return which could help BC snap out of its funk, but they could find it tough to turn around against a top tier team.

UNH on the other hand has look unbeatable at times, and lazy at others. They tend to take periods off and haven't looked much better than average on the road. Additionally there is always that fear that the offense goes stagnant at any moment there isn't a true playmaker and that each goal requires a team effort. My biggest worry for UNH would be a slow start on Friday and momentum carrying BC through the weekend and taking 3 or 4 from the cats.

Taking everything into account I feel that UNH has eased back into game form coming out of the break, they got stronger as the RPI game went on and will carry that into the weekend. I feel UNH will take at least 3 points with a win at home.

Wishful thinking? If you're looking for tickets, there are some available for tonight at facevalue on the BC ticket marketplace.

          Cheers!
          Mule train, yeah, yeah!

More looking out of curiosity, as I'm going already, but what is this BC ticket marketplace you speak of?

            edit: I found this

but nothing for tomorrow's game in Durham.

edit: I should learn to read better, you clearly said 'for tonight'. ugh. Thanks for the link!

(can't make tonight's game, thankfully NESN is all over it!)

Well, through two periods its been a hard game to watch. Pretty unenthusiastic effort from UNH considering its the biggest weekend of the year and a rivalry game.

This team got off to a great start because of its commitment to team defense. No one is playing defense tonight and its been an issue since the Colorado road trip in my opinion. BC isn't getting a lot of chances, but they're finishing every single one they get - with a lot of help from poor defensive coverage and casual backchecking.

Offensively, lots of soft shots from the outside with very few Wildcats getting to the net!

This team can play with anybody in the country - if and ONLY if they bring their best effort and out-skate/out-work the opponent every night. If they don't up the work-ethic it could be an ugly weekend...

Well not the outcome we were looking for. Looked in spurts but not consistent. Hopefully a better showing tonight. Any word on Burke? Do we see Wyer tonight? Got a lot of questions after last night. Really need the top 2 lines to step it up. Was not impressed with them at all last night

hmmm, have to disagree with that. I thought they could have had 7-8 goals with the chances they got. Didn't show that so much in SOG because they were missing the net

Hard to say it's a "rivalry game" when the series has been so one-sided in the last few years. Wasn't that long ago that UNH had the lead in the overall head-to-head against these guys - probably as late as last season? But as of right now, I'm not sure there are any players left on the UNH squad who have a memory of beating BC. That's going to be a mental obstacle they'll need to overcome ASAP if they are to have any realistic chance of pulling an upset if they meet in the postseason. The post-Snively history of postseason success against BC is pretty much non-existent. Sad to say, but it's becoming a one-way "rivalry" more and more at this point.

Agree 100% with the defensive issues you've outlined, Dan. Knoedel in particular was absolutely brutal last night, and as I said in the game thread, I think he was on the ice for four of the BC goals, and I figured he was directly responsible for three of them. Kid has to smarten up and in a hurry. Mistakes you can get away with against the bottom half of the league, the better teams will punish you, and the best teams will humiliate you. I felt bad for Pesce ... as a frosh, he should be able to lean on an older more experienced player like Knoedel at this stage of his career, and last night several times Pesce had to choose between picking up two (or more) attacking players (see Goals #1 and #4). Backcheck came up wanting on Goals #1 and #2 (at least). If there is game tape to be watched by certain UNH players either today or early next week, it's going be an uncomfortable session for a small handful of players, for sure.

Terratorial-wise, I think the game was closer than the final score, but BC had a bit more puck luck, clearly has better finishers and has Gaudreau, who was the real difference maker. I was also fairly impressed with BC's young defense as both Sullivan and Jeke didn't look out of place.

I can't imagine him ever making anyone even feel uncomfortable when he's sober. There are plenty of players in my time covering the team who have looked at me differently or flirted with me or the like. Trivino has never been one of those players. Even outside of the rink, he'll say hi and is plenty of friendly, but has never been even close to saying or doing anything inappropriate.
