Is it not scary to NU fans that Derek Roy is not as good as Rawlings/Mountain? Another weak, weak goal given up by Rawlings tonight to Beattie.

It is scary that he MIGHT not be as good as CR or BM. We will have to wait until DR plays next year to really know, though!

I get your point, but ridiculous to think Madigan is not playing him if there is any chance he could do better than Rawlings or Mountain.

Don't blame Madigan though. Goalie situation next year is terrible and beyond that there are still no recruited goalies coming in 2014 or 2015. The team played with 3 lines tonight. Yes, injuries are a big part of that but every team has injuries. If Manno and Darcy didn't decide they didn't want to continue playing for the coach who recruited them, our forward depth would be a lot better. Our two wins against BU we're because of a fantastic two-man forecheck which created a ton of grade A chances. We haven't seen the aggressive forecheck since. I understand the argument of giving JM more time, but the idea that he can't be blamed, is ludacris.

Btw, Kevin Roy has 18 points in NU's 9 wins this year. I think he might be the only difference between this season and a 2005-2006 win total.

Don't blame Madigan though. Goalie situation next year is terrible and beyond that there are still no recruited goalies coming in 2014 or 2015.

It all starts and ends with him.

Roby's policies and Madigan's lack of intestinal fortitude let him leave and Rawlings to stay. Further, gave the starting job to a Senior who mercifully plays his final ever hockey game next weekend, instead of giving it to one of the top US born under 20 goalie.

There is nothing more to talk about. With Gillies, we do not collapse in the third against Lowell twice, or last night. That's 6 pts. That alone is a playoff spot. You can nitpick through the rest of the schedule if you want but its all hypothetical.

Providence is battling for a conference championship right now. And their team is not much better than ours except for in goal.

Gillies is the diff between 1st place and 10th. Very simple.



Outside of sports, if you make such a colossal mistake like this, and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to remedy it in 2013, 2014, or even 2015, you get FIRED. Hell, you could even be sued for it.

It is GROSS NEGLIGENCE!!!

For those that are still going to fight for Madigan on the goalie issue I have one last statement to make:

We currently have Witt and Roy as our goalies for the 13-14 season. Witt took a medical redshirt this year.

IF for any reason, Witt(currently injuried) or Roy get hurt, and god forbid they do, we will only have 1 goalie. ONE GOALIE.


Unless something happens in the next couple of months, we WILL have a walk-on third string goalie, who with an injury will be our backup.

What does it matter they are going to suck for a long time, and to tell you the truth its a blessing in disguise. JM will be gone after 1 or 2 more hapless seasons and we can start to rebuild and focus on the future. And JM can go back to a job in administration, that he is actually good at figuring out the best paint color for the men’s washrooms in the Marino Center.

Maybe you should call your attorney. See if you have a case? Tell him you are a huge loser and you think that the AD has a conspiracy against the hockey program. You want your donations back, plus cost of your game jerseys reimbursed.

Insults aside, I'll be the more mature and adult person in this conversation although I'm 15 years younger, I'll try to respond to this constructively.

I don't think there is a conspiracy. That would be foolish.

What I do think is happening here:

We have a coach who has no valuable experience in coaching and has coached his way to over 4 3rd period collapses in the last 2 months.

We have a coach who has the repuation of being a VERY GOOD recruiter.He has managed to get some very good guys.
However, he let a future NHL goalie leave the program for an in conference opponent.
However, he has not managed to recruit a single goalie for the 2013 season.
However, he has not managed to recruit a single goalie for the 2014 season. Yet.
However, he has not managed to recruit a single goalie for the 2015 season. Yet.

We will be finishing in last place in our conference.
We will be one of only a handful of schools with less than 10 wins on the season.
We have allowed over 100 goals against this season.
We will allow over 90 goals in conference this season.

We were a program that made it to the NCAA tournament and was only a couple of minutes away from the second round.
We were a program that was on our way up, and fast.


We have an AD that will yell at a fan for asking about the future of the program.
We have an older fan base that will yell and insult a donor for asking about the future of the program.
We have an older fan base that just doesn't care enough to make the moves needs for the future of the program.

We have an AD that clearly doesn't care about hockey attendance.
We have an AD that only cares about the basketball attendance.
We have an AD that has made it his job to make the basketball program the only thing that matters.
We have an AD that believes that scholarships and roles are guarenteed regardless of performance.
We have an AD that forced out a coach for sending text messages.
We have an AD that held a WORLDWIDE search for a new coach and found the best person in our OWN BUSINESS SCHOOL.



I guess you can look at all these reasons as the big secret conspiracy, but really its just a complete failure of management from the top down.

It starts with Roby. It should end with Roby. Madigan is ultimately an extension of Roby's mistakes.

Just to be clear to everyone here.

I do not think that NU should just fire Madigan and continue on. He does have a lot of value to the program. He would be a great advisor to the program. He would be a great fundraiser for the program. He would be a great voice of the program. He can help close recruits, and if he needs an official title to do so, I have no problems with him being an assistant coach, as he always should have been that.

He was a part of 3 of the 4 beanpot wins, he can be a great voice. He can certainly help.

He just not a good coach, and should not be in that role. There are much better people currently out there that could help our program more than him. Toot being the top of my list.

I've read your postings for quite a while, but I have rarely felt that they were worthy or a response. Lately your posts have become exceedingly tiresome. Your recent diatribes have convinced me that, without question, you are more than just a moron. You are an ignorant moron who is never happy or satisfied for very long by anything "your team" accomplishes. Please consider helping the true NU fans who share ideas here by confining your posting to the UMaine thread where the other posters will understand your "Fire Jimmay" rantings.
