Re: Irish hockey '12-'13: Why would you not wanna go there?
Jackson is a bit of a mad scientist when it comes to lines and combinations. And when there are injuries or lackluster performances it's pretty unremarkable that the lines need some straightening out.
I honestly don't think any of it is head games. Others may see that differently. Jackson seems to have developed a bit of a Herb Brooks like reputation for being a coach who wants to be unapproachable or thinks keeping players off guard with head games is a useful tactic. I actually don't think he is like this at all. To me he's an Xs and Os guy to the ends of the Earth. I think the messages he sends need little deciphering. If a guy doesn't hustle back to negate an icing call and then sits for the rest of the period he understands the message. I do think he handled his goaltending issues last year pretty poorly, but I honestly think it was because he didn't have a handle on who he trusted. He may have screwed the pooch there, but I don't think he was yanking anyone around as a way to get into their heads.
