    It'll be a while; they're probably still top 20.

That's probably a pretty safe assumption. RPI had a pretty good lead over teams outside the Top 20, and they were in pretty good shape even over the teams at 18-20.

        Coming in at #55...

        Sacred Heart - 0.1629 Points

The Pioneers had a terribly disappointing season, going 2-30-4. SHU falls 1 spot from #54 down to 55, but did manage to gain nearly 6 thousandths of a point, thanks in large part to their 1-2-0 record against Yale (giving SHU 5 total wins against national champions). The Pioneers 26.3% winning percentage against former national champions is the best among the group of current teams that have yet to make the NCAA Tournament.

        55. Sacred Heart - 0.1629 Points
        56. AIC - 0.0317 Points
        57. Robert Morris - 0.0276 Points
        58. Penn State - 0.0267 Points

          Coming in at #54...

          Connecticut - 0.224 Points

The Huskies went a strong 19-14-4 this season, but added a disappointing 0-7-0 record to their already dismal mark against national champions (0-20-3) when Yale captured the title. The Huskies dropped from #53 to #54 this season, but that was largely a result of Canisius' run to the NCAA Tournament. Look for Connecticut to start improving their lot when they move to Hockey East.

          54. Connecticut - 0.224 Points

Well, at least within my formula. They currently have a 6% Winning Percentage against National Champions...they'll at least get 6+ games each season to try and improve on that number.

It really all depends on how busy I am. My guess is that there won't be any tomorrow, so maybe I'll try to make up for that bit with a handful or so on Friday. Ideally I'd like to have this done within a week or two, but I just don't know how much free time I'm going to get.

and naturally you wouldn't even consider releasing three at a time until you reach # 30 or so and then 2 at a time until you reach # 20 or so.....

I try to release each team individually. That way if people want to discuss a certain team's movement it's a little easier. That being said, I may have to release batches of teams at some point. We'll see how it goes. The intent is not to drag this thing out forever.

                        Coming in at #53...

                        Canisius - 0.5775 Points

The Golden Griffins had a .500 year, but managed to get hot at the right time and win the Atlantic Hockey Tournament to secure their first ever spot in the NCAA Tournament. Canisius nearly pulled off the upset of the overall #1 seed, but fell just short of their first NCAA Tournament win. The Griffins earned 0.5496 points this season, marking a nearly 2000% increase in their points...the highest of any team this season.

                        53. Canisius - 0.5775 Points
                        54. Connecticut - 0.224 Points

                          Army - 1.6095 Points

The Black Knights had a difficult season, going 7-22-5, but were helped out in the rankings thanks to a long standing history of playing Yale. Army gained 0.23 points on the season, and further cemented their status as the best program to have never made the NCAA Tournament.

                          52. Army - 1.6095 Points
                          53. Canisius - 0.5775 Points

                            Coming in at #51...

                            Alabama Huntsville - 2.3369 Points

The Chargers went a dreadful 3-21-1 this season, but their program was largely saved when they gained admittance into the WCHA. That ensured that UAH will be around for the foreseeable future, and masked the disappointment of an awful season.

                            51. Alabama Huntsville - 2.3369 Points
                            52. Army - 1.6095 Points
                            53. Canisius - 0.5775 Points
                            54. Connecticut - 0.224 Points
                            55. Sacred Heart - 0.1629 Points
                            56. AIC - 0.0317 Points
                            57. Robert Morris - 0.0276 Points
                            58. Penn State - 0.0267 Points
                            59. Bentley - 0.0252 Points

In looking at the bottom nine teams, they remain the same as last season, although a slightly different order. AIC was able to move up a few positions thanks in large part to Yale's national title. Canisius was the other big winner, moving up two spots and adding over a half point to their totals. It will be interesting to watch how Penn State moves in the coming seasons. As for any of the other teams sitting in the bottom five, an NCAA Tournament appearance would likely send them up a spot or two.

Just in case someone not familiar with this site or its clique of commentators or its esoteric argot - what are the parameters of a "program," as the term is used in this thread? Strictly W-L record? Number of NHL draft picks? Number of players from the same state? Average age of players? Number of conference championships? Number of DI championships? Average game attendance? Imagined impact upon national popularity of DI hockey? Fan loyalty?
All of these criteria are routinely cited by denizen-lurkers on this site as proof of the primacy of their favorite team. If "all of the above" what weight is given to each category, or do the rules allow everyone to pull each parameter and its importance out of . . . . . . . . . . . thin air?

The Minutemen went a disappointing 12-19-3 on the season, and they drop one spot from #49 to #50. Massachusetts did manage to gain nearly two tenths of a point, thanks in large part to Yale winning the national title.
