Re: Brown Hockey 2012-2013:Climbing the ECAC Ladder
After watching and listening to tgames on the 'Net, finally got to see team play Saturday. Impressive win.
Couple of comments:
1. Meehan was rocking 1700+. The quality of play seems to improve when there is a home crowd. When school starts, I hope the AD does something to get some students into Meehan for the remaining home games.
2. Bruno's freshmen class is solid. Best group I have seen in a long time.
3. Pfeil is the real deal. I thought he played very well. When skating with Robertson, the two were dominating H. Speaking about Dmen, Coach did a good job in rotating the 5 Dmen throughout the game. Hard to believe Goldberg is a recent convert to D as he played quite well and had some good shots on goal.
4. Borelli looks like a keeper. D cleared all the rebounds and helped him a lot. The first goal he had no chance on with the breakaway - I missed the start of the rush and don't know who slipped up- and the second goal was the result of very good passing which left him with no chance. While some might say his lateral quickness is not good, I would disagree.
5. While Siers did not get a lot of minutes (and none in third I believe), he contributed when Blackwell started playing physical in front of Brown's net. Siers stepped in, Blackwell couln't move him and the chippiness stopped.
6. Lorito is the real deal. tremendous vision on the ice and makes no mistakes. With his 3 assists he truly makes everyone better.
7. Passion. This team never stopped playing. Every loose puck was challenged, every time H came over the blue line there was a body waiting.
While I believe this team can advance in the playoffs, I keep looking forward to next year. With Robertson, Wahl, Quick, Nate and Dec coming back, D looks really solid; Lorito, jacobsen, hathaway and others will produce goals. I trust Coach has found a goalie and a sniper for next year's class and Brown is set.
