Interesting how all the Bentley goals against SH were on special teams: 4 PPG's, 3 SHG's- and the one goal for SH was on the PP. Was the officiating that tight or was the game that chippy?

Either way, nice showing by the Falcons out of the gate, especially by your freshmen. I expect a tight game on Friday because of how the injury bug has depleted Michigan's defense. Take away a top defender and an experienced blueliner with a talented freshman and a walk-on. Add either of the two freshmen goalies and it spells trouble.

Honestly - SHU just played that badly. They made a couple of dumb moves, then they got mad, then they tried to make it physical and instead made dumber played. Will Raynor went for a kill shot on Brett hartung and left his feet, drilled him in the chest, then was escorted off the ice with a Game Misconduct. Another hit had a blatant charge at Campanelli that someone left his feet on, but JOey's 6-1 as opposed to Hartung's generous 5-10.

Bentley definitely can't take the amount of penalties they took against SH, even though I still don't get what the 5 minute major on Hartung was for. He literally jumped out of the way of the goalie and ended up sitting on the top of the net, and the refs got him for charging the goalie. He really wasn't trying to hit him. The Koudys penalties were warranted; he was trying to drop the gloves.

Even so, SHU was just a bad hockey team. They gave Bentley 8 pp opps, and Bentley scored on 4 of them. They were listed to have 10 pp opportunities, given that Bentley scored the usual amount of penalties (they'll want to cut that down to like 6 against Michigan for a regular showing) when the game got out of hand. The 10 pp opportunities resulted in 3 shorties, so take it with a grain of salt.

About 80 tickets shown as being left for the Harvard game. Only other sell out so far is Cornell, as they travel RIDICULOUSLY well from what I understand. I know the alumni office reserved a block as they are offered as part of the Homecoming package. I'm sure they will give back a bunch of unused tickets sometime before the game.

          Nice article, Dan.

For those who do not know the Michael Eden story background, he was a 15 year old young man who was battling cancer last year, got a chance to meet the Bentley Falcons hockey team, who then "adopted" him as an honorary teammate that allowed Michael to practice with the team on ice until his passing not long after the season ended. Indeed, a very emotional seasonal opener.

The magnitude 4.0 earthquake in Maine actually occurred at 7:12 pm, right before the opening face off of the game (Dan's typo had the quake occurring to open the second period, but he is close with 7:25 pm). Needless to say, I did not feel the quake either, so the JAR must have been built to earthquake engineering protocols. :-)

Good comments Humanoid, Schiegs, Eaglefan06, and our honorary Wolverine fan Streaker.

Maybe I'm just going to be going through withdrawal symptoms but I'm debating on checking out the Harvard-Brown exhibition this weekend in Providence. Harvard was at the game scouting out Bentley on Tuesday; I saw a gentleman wearing a Harvard hockey jacket in the press box by the open end. And with no home game, my options out here are either to overpay for a secondary market ticket to watch BC raise the banner (which I totally would) or go up to UNH.

And who would want to go to UNH for a game, right Snively? hahaha

Harvard's board is already talking about Bentley; they posted the box and I haven't taken a look yet, but I'm curious if they have any thoughts or perspective. I get the feeling they'll take an SHU game with a grain of salt and walk into the Bentley game with an air of how good they are.

I was busy writing a grant proposal, so was not able to visit Lake Whitt for their games against St. Cloud last weekend. But, because I could not come up with a reasonably priced way to visit Yost again this weekend, I will plan to be in Durham on Saturday night. I am told tickets should be available at the door, and perhaps there will be some end zone seats for $11 still available. Lake Whitt has a new price structure for general admission this season, as hundreds of these seats have remained empty the past couple of years. However, if these cheap seats bring back the days of sell outs, I may be disappointed.

In any case, will stream the Woverines - Falcons radio broadcast through my laptop wherever I am on Friday night.

                  Go Falcons!

I too will be listening tomorrow night. I really hope they beat Michigan. I, for one, am really sick of how everyone pays out attention to the Hockey East schools around here. I'm not saying Bentley could go toe-to-toe with Boston College by any means, but there is some **** good hockey being played in watertown, and there should be more than 700 people going to see it. This is a huge game, and I really hope they kick some Maize and Blue tail!

These are some huge OOC games for the boys against these teams with this week and then UAH and Hahvid next week. (see what i did there?)

Listening to the pregame broadcast. Coach Berenson did a great job talking up The Falcons. Made them sound like the next coming of '80 Olympic team.

Wished the Bentley boys well after the game. Class team and coach. Good spirited effort, but ran out of gas in the third period. Hard to keep all 56 shots out. Top line is for real. Good clean game, also.

Best of luck in the AHA.

rough go of it last night. Bentley wasn't the better team but they weren't the worse team either (Does that make sense?)

The highlights are up on mgoblue.com on the front page. On the goals Michigan scored, Bentley had a chance to cllear the net (especially on the first one) and just didn't. The defense reared a little bit of an ugly head from what I could tell. And then by the time it got down to the later stages, Michigan just put the finishing touches on it.

I like that Bentley didn't quit and scored the 3rd goal. A 6-3 final is what I would've honestly predicted. Early lead, shock the Wolverines, then they come back and overwhelm you but youre never really out of it. I thought Komm was much better than Racine, but Michigan shot 56 times on Komm. Law of averages there.

Once the defense gets tightened up, I think it'll be a-okay. I don't know why but Dan Koudys didn't appear on the line sheets; I'm guessing he was scratched in favor of Derek Bacon to get Bacon some playing time in an OOC. I would expect Koudys to be back in the lineup for the UAH game; he's too good defensively to keep out of the lineup. Although he did rack up 12 PIM including a misconduct against SHU so maybe it was punishment. Who knows. Either way, moving forward, I'd assume he'd be playing.

Team was flying back today instead of going to the football game. They got an early morning flight according to the players' twitters. Good full weekend of rest in before next weekend. I don't mean to be rude or undercut playing a team like Michigan, but I get the feeling that the Wolverine weekend being a one-off game got lost in the shuffle of the Harvard game next week with Alabama coming in. Doesn't feel like too many people were making a huge deal of it besides us on the board.

Anyways, I was impressed by MIchigan but not overwhelmed. I think it's clear why they're who they are though. I can't wish them anything but luck the rest of the way since everyone's been very gracious (especially streaker coming over to our board), and Red Berenson spoke so highly of the program this week on the pregame show.

I'll now go back to hating RIT for getting that win over you guys last week

That would be my guess, too. The 10+2 matching major roughing and fighting penalty was a bit embarrassing in a game that was long decided. Of course, on the same play that led to the Koudys penalty, the 5-minute major on Hartung for "charging the goalie" was a joke, as Hartung did everything that he could to avoid the goalie, including his 10-point landing on top of the cage.

After seeing so much rubber on Friday night, wonder if Komm will get this coming Friday night off against Huntsville to be fresh for Hahvud?
