Before today I didn't know there was a Big Rapids, just thought it was what the locals called Grand Rapids.

A little town of maybe 10,000 people at most (not counting the several thousand students) about 100 miles from where the PieGuy follows DU. A rival of ours in hockey at the HS level. Home-grown talent in pucks includes Cody Chupp, who was a star player and captain for Ferris a few years ago. An interesting anomaly to find a D-1 hockey team here, but they were solid this year and I would say caliber of coaching, excellent, probably trumps overall talent level. But potentially a very tough out, even though they were surprised by BG's nice run in the CCHA tourney.

Hope the Pio's are ready to come and do more than show up in Titletown this year. (Yes, the game last year against WMU had them spent and, unfortunately, pretty easy picking for the Whooooux.) Pio's followers out West, please keep us apprised on what you hear about Zucker. Is Bennett a likely go for the weekend?

I'll give a more detailed rundown on food options for visitors during my lunch break. There's no shortage of good options, and not just the franchises that are all along Oneida St.

Makowski...that's a name I haven't heard for Denver in a while. He injured?

Last game Makowski played was against Air Force on 12/31/11. The nebulous "upper body" which most assume was concussion symptoms.

That's too bad that the car rental guy said that. But some ideas...

* If you're a gambler, across the highway from the airport is the Oneida Casino, with all of the requisite gambling, buffet, bingo, slots, etc.

* For history buffs, particularly WWII buffs, try the National Railroad Museum. A wide variety of trains, including Gen. Eisenhower's command train from WWII.

* Part 2 for history is Heritage Hill State Park. It's a cultural museum/park about the history of the region.

* If the weather stays nice (it was close to 80 here today), and you want some fresh air, try the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. Lots of trails, rescued animals - sort of a minizoo. You can feed the geese. A nice place to the take the kids.

* There's a mall about 2 miles south of the Resch Center called Bay Park Square, but the better shopping experience is Fox River Mall about 35 minutes down the freeway in Appleton.

GB, any insight on State Park camp areas? The local RV parks seem to start the season on April 15. Won't need hookups for such a short trip, just a state park w/overnight camping/park spaces.

There's no state park with camping right in Green Bay. The two closest are High Cliff State Park (on the shores of Lake Winnebago, about 35 minutes south), and Potawatomi (on the shores of Green Bay) about 45 minutes north in Door County. Trivia Tidbit:
DU's David Makowski and FSU's Scott Czarnowczan, both sophomores, played for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) which captured the Clark Cup (playoff) and Anderson Cup (regular-season) championships in 2009-2010.

Cornell's Locke Jillson also played for the Gamblers in 2007-08.

I assume the building will be completely filled with Michigan fans?
