Seriously- why does it even matter?

Michigan fans go to football over basketball over hockey, big deal. Detroit fans would rather see the Red wings, so what.

Minnesota fans like HS hockey over pro- sounds like Indiana and basketball- WHO CARES?

It's not as if you actually gain anything out of this argument.
What did you gain out of complaining about this argument?
Having a clear conscience just means you have a bad memory or you had a boring weekend.

Why go watch the Wild when we can go watch a Minnetonka-Edina game, or go watch a top-10 Gopher team. It's really a no brainer. The Wild get their act together, and that attendance will be right back where it was 5 years ago.

Go Jets Go! Lets be honest, Minnesota is a hockey backwater compared to Manitoba. Just follow the Jets. They're more fun, anyway. Problem solved.

Not to mention that they'll not only sell out Michigan Stadium again for Wings-Leafs on January 1, but will easily sell out Comerica Park for a Wings-Leafs alumni game the same weekend, and probably for the GLI too. Top that.
I have to wonder how many of those people actually got to see a hockey game. Been a pretty vocal critic of this sort of thing. Ford Field and Camp Randall are two examples of why it shouldn't be done. But they got their record, so good for them.

The only reason this sort of thing matters is because it is how people of certain areas identify themselves and it is a source of pride. It's good to be the king. No other reason beyond that.
