    FSU: Daniels 20 seasons
    DU: Gwozdecky 18 seasons
    UMN: Lucia 13 seasons
    CC: Owens 13 seasons
    UMD: Sandelin 12 seasons
    BSU: Serratore 11 seasons
    UW: Eaves 10 seasons
    NMU: Kyle 10 seasons
    UND: Hakstol 8 seasons
    SCSU: Motzko 7 seasons
    UAA: Shyiak 7 seasons
    LSSU: Roque 7 seasons
    UA(F): Ferguson 4 seasons
    UNO: Blais 3 seasons
    BGSU: Bergeron 2 seasons
    MTU: Pearson 1 season

    Not a lot of turnover in head coaching jobs, when one comes available it's not an opportunity that can be ignored.
    I think the difference is when you look at the names you listed, Blais is very likely the closest to being done. Which is why I can see why "It's Maverick Hockey Time" would have such questions.

    There might be no guarantee that Hastings is the next guy but I think it is fair to say that the odds are pretty good given his connection to the area and the success he's had in front of the locals.

    Lets just say I would be very surprised if Hastings left.
    Almington's post says it best.

    This is the only coaching vacancy at all of the schools. It's a rare opportunity, especially this year.

    Maybe State laws or university rules about posting the job.

    Lucia = Fairbanks ---> CC ---> MN

    Gwozdecky = WIS (RF) ---> MIA ---> DU

    York = Clarkson ---> BG ---> BC

    Mel Pearson = Michigan Tech ---> Michigan [2015]

    I'm not convinced that UNO is one of those premiere programs that it is worth waiting around for with to much uncertainty with how things will shake out with the NCHC and if UNO slots as a perennial contender in that league.

    Hastings is the only finalist they're announcing right now? What is up with that? Sounds like they're putting all their eggs in the Hastings Basket (for now). Let's hope he accepts if an offer is made.

    Hard to pass on the opportunity now, for nothing more than the possibility of an opportunity later. I'm very interested in seeing what Shane writes about this on PucKato. I think we'll understand more of what's going on.

    Maybe they want to gauge crowd reaction, and other fan reaction before pulling the trigger, so no matter what they can make a decision that makes people happy. Seems pretty stupid to me, they should be able to figure it out without having this circus sideshow.

    If this is true, Mike Hastings is the coach.

    He's here now on campus having an interview.
