Re: RPI 2011-12 Part VI: Sweet Meteor of Death

Fun meaningless observation on how small the (hockey) world is:

The Peoria Rivermen, AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues and Chase Polacek's new team, recently traded their No. 1 goalie away. One of their writers commented on the possibility of signing Karpowich (drafted by the Blues) after his college season ends. Of course, I don't like the idea of a Clarkson alum playing for my NHL team, but if they could convince him to sign before Friday...

Maybe we can be of some help in having his season end early?

I know we pick on the proofreading of Earl Weaver's articles, but this site doesn't look like that of the Troy Record.

              EDIT: Try this: http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2...b347786354.txt

(At least I didn't link in a porn site in error which I did once many years ago.)

WaP isn't a porn site, is it?

Off topic a bit but I was recently checking some names in the RPI directory when something caught my eye. Does anyone know why Merriam is currently listed as a senior in the directory along with Bergin, Malchuk, Smith, AAG, Cullen, Rabbani and Coupal? Is it possible Bryce is graduating a year early, like Cornell goaltender Mike Garman did last year? I know he wasnt honored on senior night but neither was Garman in Ithaca last season. Im sure he'll be returning to Troy in the fall, I just thought it was interesting considering we could have three scholarship goalies on the roster.

Is the directory usually up to date and accurate? I know theres a couple a recruits listed as first year students already like Zalewski, Miller and Bradley will they be listed as sophomores when school starts up again... could this be why Bryce is listed as a senior.

He probably has enough credits to be a senior, probably having earned some while playing junior hockey. That won't affect his eligibility next season. Zalewski et al. will most likely remain as freshmen first-year students.

Edit: I didn't see him as a senior in the fall, so I assume that he won't graduate until the middle of next season.

Most likely answer is that he is simply a good student who's ahead on his work - possibly enough to fill his senior year with independent studies, which is a common thing for hockey players that get ahead.
Keep an open mind. Just don't be so open-minded that your brain falls out.

Did Earl happen to say what he thinks about the Orioles' pitching situation this year?
