Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!
Darling = team confident in goalie that is (when playing well) one of the top fifteen or twenty in the nation in D1-- simply put, we have no idea how people would have played with him in net, but, it should kinda go without saying (but it doesn't) that players confidence in their netminder affects their play. AND, that mental aspect of the game is not Tim's fault-- its hard to write that because I am definitely in the "fire Tim" group, but the absence of Darling affects people in ways that are not the coach's fault.
when Darling not in, other goalies erode confidence because they are not good enough to play in D1--Wilson is what, the 70th-90th best goalie in D1? (counting all the backups, there are about 180 in D1) Sirman very young, no way to know what he will be -- but we kinda have an idea what he is now. . .
win as a team, lose as a team, back up goalies should be expected to play at least reasonably well-- Maine does not have that "luxury"-- so things will look grim until Darling gets back. And then we have to hope he does not suffer his mid-season swoon.
Worst injury of the season so far--Darling has some problems, but he keeps us in games and is generally much better than last year . . .

Looks like a little success and some poll rankings have gone to their heads already. Was hoping this team with the new freshmen might be different, but doesn't seem so.
Funny how this always seems to happen with TIMMAY's teams. And funny how it always comes as a surprise to him when it happens.
and one more time, why was it that Dumoulin and Hockydad's son did not want to play for Tim?

Lets see how they pick things up for tonight. Gonna take a huge effort at PC to come away with even a point. Without big D in net, I gotta like PC's chances especially after blitzing BU last night. PC 5-2 tonight.
Maybe they were tricked into thinking that this was the REAL Florida Tourney weekend.

There is no doubt BC is faster and better coached. Does anyone know if WABI is picking up the game from COX sports tonight?
