    DrD's suggestion of it being a standard 0-4 scale with 4.3 being A+ and 4.6 being A++ makes some sense to me in this grade-inflation era.
    I think I more of meant 1/3 (0.333), and then they just truncate.

        Ralph I am very happy to have been of help. But I have no clue what I was talking about.

          Actually, Ralph, your suggestion of A+ and A++ do not make sense, because the traditional GPA modifier does not go that far. If anything, something above 4.5 would constitute the previous letter, and unless you live in some alternate dimension, there's nothing before A, unless we're using DDR rankings with AA and AAA.

          Or for the real nerds, ITG rankings which include S-, S, S+, *, **, ***, and **** for perfection.

            My high school graded on a 4.0 scale, but for taking honors, AP, and IB classes you got an extra grade point for A's, B's, and C's:

            Normal: AP/IB:
            A=4.0 A=5.0
            B=3.0 B=4.0
            C=2.0 C=3.0
            D=1.0

            But it was still a 4.0 scale, so it was possible to have a 4.8 out of 4.0.

            Though I have no idea about a 4.6 scale.

                Why does it have to be "traditional" in any sense.

                It did dawn on me that anything above 4.5 would logically be a nonexistant letter before A, but why does iot have to be logical?

                    Or for the real nerds, ITG rankings which include S-, S, S+, *, **, ***, and **** for perfection.
                    Perhaps we can follow the advice of the reknowned Dr. Seuss-he added letters beyond Z in On Beyond Zebra. Why not On Before Aardvark! That way we could have some really astonishing grade point averages.

                      Wow. After he's done signing autographs in Omaha and being the top player on RPI's campus from day one, maybe he'll forgo the NHL entirely and go straight to the Hall of Fame?

                        He is currently either on the way to the Ivan Hlinka tourney or already there. The tourney starts in a week.

                            Well at least now he won't be the first one to get into the HOF.

                                Stellar signing by Appert & Staff...kudos to them. Highest profile forward signing since D'Amigo/Pirri. That said, given the commitment shell game world that D1 hockey fans find ourselves in today, I will withhold my elation until I see him skate onto the ice HFH. (Please god, I don't ask for much.)
