yes, hoping for a safe speedy recovery.

I agree with owlschief, the most important thing is this young players health.

    best wishes

Speaking of the MN series: over the past three seasons, MSU is leading 2-1. Both of those wins came with MN being either #1 or #3 in the standings, if memory serves... That leaves me thinking that a sweep isn't out of the question for that weekend. ;-)

And I agree about the scoring. Wolfe's line has been great but others need to find their groove. I think Perlini will soon enough but eveille is obviously not back to 100% and still has not found that consistent scoring touch through 3 years. He obviously brought other useful skills to the team but we need him to be able to find the back of the net this year. Hopefully the week off afforded him time to continue to get back to full strength.

And only 2 points? I hope we get more than that with a possible 8 before we get back to Munn.

And when we do return to Munn, it's not gonna be easy. Minnesota looks to be regaining old form this year.

EDIT: err, 12 points the next 2 weekends? I still think like the old ways.
    Now I like that optimism

I'd like to see TA stay with the line he had at the top the last time out. Why not keep Merrifield at the left wing at #1 if it's recent memory and let's keep a good thing going.
Put D.Chelios on the second line with Perlini and Berry, have Forfar center Leveille and Nill (good faceoff %, linemate familiarity and Leveille can play the wing on 3rd and the chippy Hayes, Walrod and Darnell grind it out at #4?

Someone asked the question that I would have loved to ask: what affect does this have on teammates? I wonder if watching this makes the witnesses on skates a little gun-shy ... do they pull back a little when pressed to race? Well the answer was That the last couple of days after the accident, our practices were actually very spirited.

Hope that translates into some inspired play the next couple of weekends. MSU needs more than one scoring line. There's a lot of promise in guys like Berry and Sorenson, but some of the juniors and seniors need to get going. Perlini needs to make some of those shots count (he leads the team in that category), and yes this is asking for a lot, but Leveille needs to get healthy and play a bigger offensive role fast.

I am hoping for two points somewhere before the Spartans come home again.

Nice post. It's at times like this that the risk these young athletes take and how they're always just one slip away from disaster is kind of humbling. I agree that we can first focus on wishing him a recovery that allows for a near-normal life.

Just read about this, and I sure hope that his recovery is speedy and full. Super scary.

Poor kid. Branden Carney sustained a serious neck injury during practice yesterday.

Anyways, i wasn't all that pleased with the first 2 periods last night, especially the 2nd. I thought we seemed to be trying to put forth the absolute minimum effort needed to win and lacked the edge and intensity that i saw against WO and OSU. In the 3rd period we stepped it up and took control so i was pleased with that.

It's gonna be a long time before we see Munn again, it seems.
I think I'm gonna have to find some more hats.

Against RMU 3G, 5A and +6. Tough, creative passing and creative skating. Slick pass from Chelios to Wolfe for goal #2, and what a sick move by Reimer to almost walk in for a goal.
