Yeah there was no class at all from him on that one. We sit next to the visitors bench, and was defiantly not all there. They did some smelling salts on him a number of times with no reaction from him at all. Too bad there is no video of the play, we just saw him fall down on his own. I think their coach knew what he was going to do since he left him at the bench.

He then stepped on the ice and skated toward either Nugent or Macaulay (14 or 4 I'm not sure) as the Cats formed their thank you circle to pick a fight. After being separated by the officials, he managed to work his way to the student end where the Cats exit the ice. Still looking to fight, he was finally escorted back to his bench area as he gestured thumbs down to the student section.

I noticed Cherniwchan didn't play after the 2nd period incident with their captain. No one in my area saw what happened to cause the Russian's injury. Chernie only got a minor for high-sticking after the officials had a long talk. Florek didn't play the 3rd period. Hopefully it was just a coaches decision to prevent unnecessary injury.
      There weren't any injuries.

Good to hear. The Cats will need all hands on deck going in to the Alaska series.

Was at the Alaska Series, some thoughts on the games......

            1. Second half of Frriday nights game was the worst hockey we have played since Ohio State. We looked awful!
            2. Cherny looks like just what we needed on the Power Play, he seems to know just where to be.
            3. The addition of Gron to the Thurber/Seckel line has been outstanding. That line should have had at least 4 more goals on Saturday night.
            4. We have to stop the stupid penalties, Florek and Thurber can't keep killing 1:30 of every penalty if they want them to have anything left at the end of the game.
            5. We missed a golden opportunity for a sweep against Alaska, must come ready to play 2 full games against MSU!

Since my 12-4 declaration, the 'Cats are 2-0-1. A record of 9-4 still to go.

Sixth in the Pairwise currently, BUT... UA_ and SCSU are bubble teams.

Sioux Sports has either not been updated, or has a slight discrepancy as they still show tOSU in the top spot. LOTS of hockey still to play still.

                More link spamming.

USCHO writers/pollsters have given NMU 20th in the polls (which don't matter).

Really liked Ken, had the opportunity to sit on the university athletic committee and work with him while an undergrad. He did a lot with a little and is a very good person. I would have to assume Steve Reed becomes the AD now, has been the interim AD for awhile now.

From this MJ article, in addition with Wong's interview on ESPN970 today, it looks like they're looking outside NMU. Thank God. The AD has too long been an antiquated institution that sorely needs fresh blood and ideas (website, community outreach, etc.).

It goes without saying that the entire NMU community wishes Ken the best in his recovery. He seemed like a really nice guy the few times I met him as a student.

                          Ten more games in the regular season: @Miami 2x, Ferris 2x, @ BG 2x, @UoM 2x, LSSU 2x.

                          Pretty tough schedule.

                          NMU is 6 - 2 - 2 from the beginning of December and 2 - 1 - 2 since the break.

What do you all think? Can they, will they hold on to a top 15 PWR?

Best case, worst case for the final ten?

It took a lot of guts to play last night. Maybe for a few hours it let him take his mind off of it. He's got a large Wildcat family to support him.

I just can't see the Cats being able to maintain a top 15 PWR. They need road wins and although they've played o.k. on the road they can't muster wins.

Best case scenario is a 6-4 finish, I think. However, I realistically see a 4-6 finish. Of course ties and shootouts mixes things around a little.

Honestly, with their remaining schedule, a top 4 CCHA finish is out of the question. I predict a 7th or 8th place finish and a first round series in Marquette. But even that isn't guaranteed.

Hopefully the Cats prove me wrong.
