It's the kid's question to answer. He has to speak for himself. It's not Walt's job to make excuses for the player.

I totally agree, Dave. I just hope Walt had a hint of this a month ago and wasn't blindsided just last week. That wouldn't be too cool on Walchuk's part. Maybe he needs a little more growing up to do.
"Walchuk, who registered a goal and an assist, was understandably pleased with his return; “I love playing here, so I was excited to get back and I appreciated the fans’ applause at the beginning of the game. This team is getting some guys back from injury now, so I think we can make a run.”
Best wishes and safe travels to all Cat fans! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

According to Coreau's Tweet, Hartigan will get the start.
This doesn't surprise me. Exhibition games allow Walt to tinker with the lines and get non-regulars some starts at home in front of the crowd.
From what I've seen of the box scores, the Red Stars are a gritty team that has been all over the board (two embarrassing losses, and one curb stomping win). Not sure what to expect from them.

Interesting game last night. The Red Stars showed a lot of skill as was expected. But their captain showed no class after the game. After being injured in the second period and not returning, he came out as far as the bench for the post game handshake and waited for the line to end. He then stepped on the ice and skated toward either Nugent or Macaulay (14 or 4 I'm not sure) as the Cats formed their thank you circle to pick a fight. After being separated by the officials, he managed to work his way to the student end where the Cats exit the ice. Still looking to fight, he was finally escorted back to his bench area as he gestured thumbs down to the student section.
I noticed Cherniwchan didn't play after the 2nd period incident with their captain. No one in my area saw what happened to cause the Russian's injury. Chernie only got a minor for high-sticking after the officials had a long talk. Florek didn't play the 3rd period. Hopefully it was just a coaches decision to prevent unnecessary injury.
