The 3rd goal, in the second, period, was at the other end of the ice. But I saw a sequence that was the exact opposite of DiGi from last year. As the Brown skater came down the ice (and they've got some decently quick forwards there) with the puck, the UNH defender (can't remember who) couldn't keep up with him. It looked to me that DiGiralamo was expecting the defense to push the puck carrier towards the boards, as I saw him keep checking who else was coming through center ice, watching for a pass. The defender couldn't keep pace, the Brown attacker got around him, and DiGiralamo was so far back in his net, he had absolutely no angle, and the attacker had an easy shot over Matt's shoulder. I'm not an NCAA goalie, but I've played a little pickup here and there, and not taking that angle away, but at least coming out to the top of his crease, was a failure to execute fundamentals. Last year, DiGi was as fundamentally sound as any goalie in the country. Perhaps this example speaks to the breakdown in his game this year? I don't know, just my two cents.

I've liked everything I've seen from DeSmith this year. My gut tells me Coach U will start DiGiralamo at Fenway, because he's a senior and it's special . . . but at the moment, both from the play of the netminder and the play of the team in front of him, I think DeSmith is the best option. Perhaps an extended stay on the bench will allow Digiralamo to get his head straight.

Fenway will be well attended; temps slated to be above average.

Patriots game, 8pm, Saturday the 14th; Verizon Attendance lower and lower each year . . .
DiGi will get the start, but it will be the quickest hook I have ever seen for a goaltender if the game goes sideways on him.

Quite frankly of the little that I've seen him this year, he looks shell shocked and looks to have lost all confidence between the pipes. I think with this year all but lost, the coaching staff really needs to look to the future, and getting DeSmith and Wyer gametime will serve the program better.

You want to see some empty seats, go to the Verizon on the 14th... Padded fabric will be watching the Big Green and Cats play. I think the fan base is slowly rejecting games in Manchester, and with attendance down overall this game may not make sense anymore...

The seats will be empty, but the effect will be exaggerated this year due to the Patriots game taking the same block of time.

Posted on the Frozen Fenway thread but, here are a few pics from last night, UNH and Maine had two mini alumni games (two generations), pretty fun (didn't have the ballpark lights on so it wasn't pretty )

Former UNH Captain Josh Ciocco is the new analyst for NESN's coverage of Hockey East. He will help preview the Frozen Fenway games tonight at 10:00 on NESN Daily. http://media.nesn.com/2012/01/cherin...t-stove-6p-et/

UNH is really starting to dig into NESN:

            Jack Edwards,
            Andy Brickley,
            Mark Mowers
            now Ciocco...

            Anybody else?

FYI - According to the Mack Report blog, Merrimack will play UNH at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester next season.

6:56 @MikeMcMahonET: For those that missed it earlier tonight, Merrimack will play UNH at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester next season on a TBD date. UNH normally plays Dartmouth there, but will travel to Dartmouth's holiday tournament next season

So, UNH will be the "home" team vs Mac at the Verizon, as we play two this year in North Andover, right?

I can't imagine that Merrimack would ever be the home team if we play them at the Verizon. That would be weird and make no sense.

But, if it were this season, I think it would be even weirder and make less sense to play two in North Andover, one at the Verizon, and none at Lake Whitt.

Anyone tailgating before Frozen Fenway tomorrow around a big screen for the Bruins-Canucks game at 1 pm?

It will be a UNH home game.

Merrimack set to play UNH at Verizon Wireless Arena

According to Merrimack radio analyst and senior editor for College Hockey News Mike Machnik, Merrimack College will play UNH next season (2012-13) at Verizon Wireless Arena, home of last season's NCAA Northeast Regional.

The Wildcats will move one of their two home games against the Warriors next season. Typically, it's a date the Wildcats share with Dartmouth, but next season, UNH will play in Dartmouth's holiday tournament.

                              We wouldn't do that.
