“Not to single anybody out, but Mike Zalewski, added 15 pounds (of muscle) and never lost a step. If anything, he got quicker. He’s going to be tough for other teams to defend against, as I found out just now,” said Williamson, who had his hands full trying to contain the stocky forward in a 2-on-2 drill at Wednesday’s practice.
      Williamson is Vernon's coach.

He's bigger than his brother who made it to the NHL, and clearly he has intelligence as he did not choose to follow in his brother's footsteps (or skate tracks) for college.

IMHO, he has the best combination of size and scoring ability of any RPI forward recruit in ages. I do wonder why he was called stocky since he is listed as 6'3".

Think of a tall tree trunk. Haa. I totally agree with your assessment of him. Despite his alma mater, I was fond of how his brother played in the ECAC. Everything I have heard and read about Mike is much the same --high energy, finishes checks, digs out pucks.

I'll fix it. I was too concerned about updating my spreadsheet that computes GAA and save %age.

TB and I went to see Wood last night. He is small but great hands and terrific passer. He made some great saucer passes (air born) that impressed me. Prototypical SA recruit...very speedy. Legit D-1 player. BTW-had a great hamburger at johnk's after game. Great Irish pub!!!

Just back from this mornings game at RPI...the 2 players that I really noticed on the Bobcats were #10 Kevin Rooney and #91 Matt Dupont. Rooney's got size and I thought the best player this AM, and Dupont was smaller but very quick and great hands. Wish I noticed Wood more.
