You think that he could transfer that to Cornell or Clarkson?

I have been disappointed with the performance of our recuits there, but it may be that I am expected numbers like what are put up in the OJHL and CJHL, and that just doesn't happen.

Bourbonnais and DeVito are among their teams' leaders offensively. It's still too early to evaluate Bubela. Miller will remain a mystery. He seems to get enough shots. Perhaps they are weak or he telegraphs what he is doing. I agree about Kasdorf. I might as well men ion everyone in the USHL by adding that Bradley appears to be his team's top defenseman, so that's good too.

As to the others, Melanson is certainly tearing things up in the Prep ranks even when Delbarton goes to New England. I'd love to see him in the USHL next year, but I suspect he will stay in NJ. Zalewski's numbers speak for themselves. Wood also will hopefully go elsewhere next year. I wish that I could find soemthing about Manley online, but I can wait until next season.
Ralph: I think Zalewski will be a bit more of a known entity -- for the mere fact that he'll enter the 'tute as a 20 yr. old with 2 yrs/ of BCHL grind under his belt. Also, he's about the same size as Tinordi, but with better offensive punch in a better Jr. league (chew on that and dream for a minute Doc!). I'm not worried about Kasdorf. The level of play is several notches better in the U than his former MJHL, he's adjusting to life pretty far from home, etc. etc.. I have a strong feeling Appert will ask him to do another year in the USHL -- he needs more time to develop, from what I can see, we don't have any reason to bring him this fall, burning a year of his elgibility, given that we already have Merriam and Diebold. Of course Edmonton and his advisor will likely have a say in this.

Not real competition for Delbarton today. They just have so much more than the local competition. Josh Melnick is a forward worth watching-but I think he is even smaller than JL was at this stage. He might weigh 135 but he can shoot and score. I wonder how many off this roster will end up in the NCAA in the next couple years?

He you have right-Edmonton and his advisor will call the shots. But he needs to start showing some signs of improvement or maturing soon. Zalewski really does seem like my kind of boy. You know I am a big Tinordi fan-it has taken him some time-but he is starting to contribute more and more all the time. After the early part of this season-when we suffered all the injuries to the freshman forwards-it really points out the value of depth and that we can never have enough.

That last line is key. I can see us losing him if we want him to stay in the USHL. We could lose him even if we want him to come since he won't be guaranteed the starting job.

I LOVE Tinordi Doc! I smile every time he goes over the boards...and Seth has done a very good job of having on the ice when physicality was needed...when things get a little chippy. I thought he had and outstanding weekend, he seems to be hitting his stride in the offensive end -- far more comfortable- taking his play to the net. Good things ahead for him IMO. Put him on a line with Z next year...that HAS to be enough to get you back to HFH !!!!

I wouldn't put Tinordi and Z on the same line. We have two many smaller forwards who could use a physical presence on their lines.

not to mention that if he were to play 1 more year in the USHL he would then be a 21 yr. old FR when he arrives on campus I just don't see that as a scenario that will play out. I think it's RPI or St.Johns (Winnipeg's AHL team)...and looking at that scenario it would seem RPI would be the way to go. As Doc would say, "just my 2-cents".
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

After reading that, maybe by the end of the year if "Kazzy's" GA seems high that might be one of the contributing factors. BTW Team USA plays tonight against Sweeden @ 10:30....
thought I would re-post this in light of Kasdorf's recent performances. Could also be a factor in Kasdorf not considering another year in the USHL...especially with the same HC & his penchant for offense 1st defense 2nd.

Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

What's so bad about a low-scoring hockey game? Granted, when you live in a basketball town you're not used to people understanding the concept of "defense". However, both RPI/Yale games I listened to were exciting, and those were low-scoring with tremendous goaltending and defensive blocks on both sides.

One thought I had on that light, though: Could the coach be trying to build some confidence in the scoring ability of the players by basically telling them to "go for it"?

I thought he had and outstanding weekend, he seems to be hitting his stride in the offensive end -- far more comfortable- taking his play to the net. Good things ahead for him IMO. Put him on a line with Z next year...that HAS to be enough to get you back to HFH !!!!
We are hopeful tht next year we can do just that. Purely a health issue thing for us. I love the idea of putting 2 big horses together on one line. You have to be a bit selective though as that works well in match ups against some teams and not others. I would be more likely to do that at home games when we have the last change of personnel on the ice. I really thought Tinordi and Malchuk was a good pairing this year-but again, it has to be when the match up is favorable. I am certainly no hockey strategist, but i really do believe in having the right lines out there agianst each other.
Take the shortest distance to the puck and arrive in ill humor

The October posts from USHR became accessible today. I don't think all of this has been posted. It has been pointed out here that the Manleys are cousins.

Jake Wood, ’93 (Jr. Bobcats) 5-8/160, F—Energy player who creates a lot and can bury the puck. Will be a top producer at The Gunnery this season. Remains to be seen if the senior from Ontario can be a finisher at the DI level. We’ll find out though, because he’s headed to RPI.

Charles Manley, ’96 (Selects Hockey Academy) 5-8/140, D — Has really light feet and is a fluid skater. Brother of former NTDP product Richard Manley. If he can get some of his brother’s height (6’5”) he will shoot up recruiters’ charts.

Drew Melanson, ‘95 (New Jersey Freeze) 5’10”, 150 lbs., F—RPI recruit can really fly. His speed is incredibly difficult to defend against. Really puts defenders on their heels. We watched him play a very good Cape Cod Whalers team and he was a standout. If he adds a little more finish to his game he could turn into a real steal for the Engineers. Will be a junior at Delbarton.

We thought 5’11” Riley Bourbonnais, a ’93 LW from the Berkshire School, did a fine job, and adapted quickly to the pace.

We liked RPI recruit Chris Bradley, a 6’1”, 190 lb. ’93 defenseman from Williamsville, NY. Solid. Nothing flashy.
