  • Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Recruit Thread

according to Chris Heisenberg, Marc Cooper who visited RPI earlier in the season has committed to Bowling Green.
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

          Email from Heisenberg about Bubela
New RPI Recruit for either 2012 or 2013. Looks like he's off to Dubuque for the remainder of the season, after participating for Slovenia at the World Juniors.
          Should be Slovakia

This was in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald yesterday:

                http://www.thonline.com/sports/local...7.html?cbst=30

Milos Bubela looks forward to beginning an exciting new chapter in his hockey career today.

The 6-foot-2, 183-pound forward from Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, was scheduled to arrive in Dubuque on Sunday night and begin practicing with the Fighting Saints this afternoon. Bubela, 19, plans to play NCAA Division I hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute following his time in the USHL. He could return to Dubuque for another season, depending on his qualifications with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

"Its very exciting" Bubela said via email before leaving home. "Ive never played in the United States before. It will be a new experience for me and I hope it helps me play better hockey."

"I chose RPI because I got an offer from the University. Its great that I can study and play hockey at the same time."

Bubela figures to add firepower to a Saints offense that averages slightly more than three goals per game. At various stops in his junior career in Slovakia, he has provided consistent scoring.

"From what Ive seen of him on film, he's going to bring size, strength and creativity to our lineup" Coach Jim Montgomery said "probably his best attributes are his ability to see the ice and his (shot) release, which might be the best we have."

Bubela became available earlier this month after spending the first portion of the season with Slovakia's national Under-20 team. He contributed two goals, three assists and four penalty minutes in six games as Slovakia (2-4) finished sixth at the World Junior Championships in Alberta, Canada.

"It was very exciting to play in WJHC" Bubela said "It was very good matches against great teams. Play was on a high level like I never met before. Lot of great experience from heavy matches"

Bubela assisted on the game-winning goal as Slovakia defeated Latvia, 3-1, on Dec. 27 in Calgary. Saints captain Zemgus Girgensons served as an assistant captain for the Latvian squad, which placed ninth.

"It was the first match for us, and we were a little asleep in the first period," Bubela said. "We had many chances we did not use, and our goalie made good work. Yes, I saw (Girgensons), because he has good skating. I had a feeling that he and two other players were the leaders of Team Latvia"

Bubela will likely make his debut on Thursday, when the Saints play host to USA Hockey's National Team Development Program at Mystique Community Ice Center.

"There will definately be quite and adjustment period, coming over from Eastern Europe and dealing with a foreign language every day," said Montgomery, who played professionally in Russia. "You end up with a headache every day, because you spend the whole time processing a new language"

"Everything's going to be different, even the way the toilet flushes. But the nice thing is we'll have him rooming with (defenseman) Mike Matheson. Mike's from Montreal, which is a huge melting pot of cultures. He'll do a nice job of helping Milos adjust."

If he sticks around for a few years as vol. asst. coach, Jaroslav Modry will be a huge asset for Milos. Im kinda curious how the coaches stumbled across him or if Modry was behind this in anyway.

I had forgotten about Modry. I don't think that it is a coincidence.

Pep band has a little time to learn a new anthem... (granted when Uryadov and Lange were with the team, it was only played during Senior Week and in place of Canada, and by the PA no less)

                          D'oh!

Isn't the last regular season home game generally called "Senior Night"? And they did this for both games that week.

Not sure if anyone already knew about it but I found this other college hockey recruiting webpage that tracks college recruits similar to Heisenbergs site. Doesnt seem to be quite as up to the minute as CH but it does have some additional info on each player.
