"Sadly" regards to a matter of personal opinion. I am not so naïve and realize, though, that the ivy presence strengthens the league from several different standpoints.

Awful. This is just awful. You're on a real losing streak lately, DUDE.
Keep an open mind. Just don't be so open-minded that your brain falls out.

However, at the expense of losing at-large potential. 2007 is the last time that no ivies made it into the tournament, although 2008 was the last time (prior to this past year) a non-ivy represented the ECAC in the tournament. Since 2007, an ivy has won the ECAC championship.

            Interesting article from CHN:

Atlantic Hockey shoots down proposal to up scholarship limit

Could this lead to a possible breakup of Atlantic Hockey...

Not unless there's another league willing to take them in. The only teams I see jumping ship, if and only if the CCHA would take them, are Niagara, Robert Morris, and MAYBE Mercyhurst (though probably not). RIT can't offer scholarships so they aren't affected, Air Force wants to stay with Army, and the others don't really have the drive to offer up the full 18, and were probably the reasoning for 12.

A break up, or at least realignment along scholly/non-scholly lines, has been rumored for years.

I'm not sure this is going to be an event that triggers it. A 7-5 vote pretty much means only one more team needs to be convinced, and I'm not sure a split benefits either side at this juncture.
