I'm on peten16's side on this one. Too many posters out here have their #1 accomplishment in life as having hit 20K posts on a college hockey message board, a feat they achieve by not having a job and living in their parents' basement until age 30! As none of us are getting paid to post out here, nobody should feel the need to play the grammer police. It just comes off as being really, really lame.

Here are a couple things to keep a watch on:

With the Big 10 Hockey League a fait accompli, there has been a lot of talk about Miami and Notre Dame possibly joining Hockey East.

There has also been talk about the University of Indiana possibly adding a varsity hockey program.

With the college coaches’ convention running next week, there should be no lack of news – or at least lively discussion and speculation – coming out of Naples.

As a Hockey East fan, I'd welcome a move like that but put me firmly in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp.

As none of us are getting paid to post out here, nobody should feel the need to play the grammer police. It just comes off as being really, really lame.

It would be great if no one had to play grammar police because people only made the occasional typo or rushed post where a few mistakes were made. That is not the case. I receive professional emails with typos, LOLspeak, and egregious spelling errors. If people were more careful about their spelling, punctuation and grammar in their informal, recreational communication, then it would be second nature to avoid errors in their professional communication.

However, I also think the "you automatically lose an argument!" "rule," along with other inside jokes on the board, are rather sad and lame. In fact, I find them as sad and lame as poorly written, error-filled posts.

Iowa (actually, Iowa State) has a notable club team but... Indiana? Is that just some "my secret sources" nonsense or does it have any reality to it?

I do wonder if any other B10 schools are now contemplating this. If so, which school would be the best fit in terms of having a vibrant program? IU does not seem like the most likely candidate. Illinois?

I've never understood the whole club hockey -> varsity thing...it's not like the club players will become the varsity team; a few would, sure, but the 3rd line club team wouldn't last past one or two recruiting seasons on a varsity team.

Other than the fact it provides something of a built in fan base and the liklihood of a rink to play on, I don't see the necessity of having a good club team prior to having a varsity team.

I would think they have nothing to do with each other except a good club team has a fan base that will more easily transfer to the varsity squad. It's possible some club players could make the team but not many if any. If they were that good they would be playing elsewhere. I would look at them more like a walk on, which on occasion makes it such as Hunwick from MI a walk on.

As a Hockey East fan, I would hate it. Adding Notre Dame and Miami would squeeze the peripheral Hockey East teams like Merrimack, Northeastern, Vermont, etc. Teams that could make a run every few years at the Hockey East title and pop into the NCAA playoffs every once in a while will likely find it a lot harder to get there.
